Guest The Sorcerer Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 I've searched the forum, can't find anything. I've even googled and do find stuff but it's all dated from 2009 and early 2010 - may be a newer, easier way now? Anyway, I've downloaded an app from somewhere but it's on my computer. How do I get it off the computer and install it on the phone? These devices aren't mobile phones anymore, they're computers that you just happen to be able to use as a phone - so when I connect the phone to the computer with the USB cable and it shows up in "My Computer" just as any other removable drive, why can't I just drag and drop the app to the phone? By the way, this is on a STOCK ROM - only thing I've done to the phone is unlock it from Orange and get rid of what Orange stuff I could; otherwise, it's just as it came out of the box. Cheers
Guest lixcab Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 Enable USB Mode from phone and use as you would an SD Card. To install, just open the file using "Filer". If you get another notification prohibiting you from installing, go to your phone's settings again and change the setting to allow non-market apps.

Brilliant, thanks very much my friend - I knew there must be an easier way than installing SDK packs or whatever :P
Guest shpal Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 You can also go to http://market.android.com on your computer then browse and choose any apps you want. Click on install and then choose your phone as the place to install. It will then be installed on your phone - dead simple.
