Guest oldfella Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 recently switched to 2.2 and finding that some files written to the SD card are not visible from the PC. so I do a Astrid backup, it works fine, check via root expolorer and I can see it. Connect to the PC and its not there. So I copy it to another directory using RE, and it works, but I cant see it on the PC. the same thing happens with titanium backup are these files maybe written to the ext partition and being mapped internally ? if I want to get a copy to the PC is there a way to do this ? fo programs such as Contacts an export works fine and I can see it on the PC thanks .. Mike
Guest lixcab Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 If folder starts with "." then it's hidden and might not come out when you attach to the PC (Linux.)
Guest Phoenix Silver Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 If folder starts with "." then it's hidden and might not come out when you attach to the PC (Linux.) windows can't see the ext part it's the reason ext part is mounted in linux systems you can see it like the fat32 part [phoenix@styx bin]$ cd /media [phoenix@styx media]$ ls 7E2F-00C4 8Gigs e4bffb97-be06-48c8-8a04-803d6ed3318a zte e4bff....... is the ext part zte is the fat32 part
Guest oldfella Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 thanks for that - I can see them via Linux, copy them to the FAT partition, and then they are visible in Windows
Guest Phoenix Silver Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 for people using windows a good tutorial here how to access ext partitions from windows Tutorial
Guest oldfella Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 would be useful, but none of these 3 programs showed the ext2 partition for me - XP SP3 maybe designed for hard disks rather than USB ?
