Guest Cant-think-of-one Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 Thanks all, flashed my new Vega today and it actually worked :D Thing is, the wifi doesn't work, it just keeps disconnecting. I've tried a reset, and gone through it all from scratch but it just won't connect. Any ideas? Cheers, Chris :P
Guest simonta Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 Any ideas? Yeh, try forum search :P It works really well! In the meantime, install Wifi Analyser. Ensure that you have a good channel set on your router. Change it if neccesary. Then get Wifi Buddy and set "regulatory domain" to 14 channels. Finally, use Wifi Static to set a static IP address.
Guest QLF Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 Thanks all, flashed my new Vega today and it actually worked :D Thing is, the wifi doesn't work, it just keeps disconnecting. I've never had wifi not work, but would suggest checking wifi settings on your router prior to reflashing etc...
Guest Cant-think-of-one Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 Thanks guys, I did search, honest, but didn't find anything, well, nothing I understood, anyway... I don't know how to install wifi analyser without wifi though? I can't do anything to the router (even if I knew how) as it's a works one but my Desire HD is connected through it with no problems. I installed the R8 one, would you recommend redoing it then? Cheers, Chris :P
Guest Cant-think-of-one Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 (edited) I've reinstalled, and still no connection. Anything I could've missed? EDIT: It's Ok, it can connect through my phone using it as a wifi hotspot so it must be a local issue. Cheers, Chris Edited February 11, 2011 by Cant-think-of-one
Guest simonta Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 Just download any app you need (Google's your friend), on the Vega, Settings->Applications->Unknown sources ticked, copy the app to your SDCard and install. The Vega does seem quite fussy with Wifi quality. I had poor performance and disconnects until I found out using Wifi Analyser (BTW, you could install in on your Desire!) that someone nearby had installed a new router on the same channel as me. I have about 10 wireless devices in the house and the Vega was the only one that barfed. Moved the channel to a nice clear one and it's been fine since.
Guest Cant-think-of-one Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 (edited) Thanks for the reply. I did have wifi analyser on my phone, just didn't understand what it was telling me at the time :P After loads of Googling, I know now about channels etc and have since found out that my home network isn't on the best channel. I've also discovered that the routers default login details seem to have changed (did suspect someone was piggybacking our internet) so I'll be resetting that today :P Anyway, to cut a long story short, I guess that if the wifi problem continues at work, I can just learn to manually configure, assuming that the channel is free? EDIT: Scrub that, answered in your first post, know I have a better idea of what it actually means! thank you :D Hell of a learning curve this, but a useful one methinks  Edited February 12, 2011 by Cant-think-of-one
