Guest Ilkin Jamalli Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 (edited) Greetings all, I am using Modaco R4 on my OLED SF since October 2010 and have to charge my battery every night. I tried many suggestion on the forum nothing prolongs its life. Recently I bought couple of SF with TFT screens and unlocked them and rooted. The battery life on those phones (on standby) was days with active bluetooth and wifi. Mine is hardly surviving a day with no Wifi or Bluetooth even if I do not talk. This made me think if anyone know if there is something magical on Ornage ROMs which makes battery life longer? Should I roll back to Orange ROM? :P Edited February 11, 2011 by Ilkin Jamalli
Guest Phoenix Silver Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 Fibblesan's rom is the best rom for the battery
Guest Ilkin Jamalli Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 Fibblesan's rom is the best rom for the battery Thanks I will try it now and post back results in few days.
Guest sumdumguy Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 Haven't trield FLB's rom yet but the best for battery life for me so far was JJ-rls6.
Guest Ilkin Jamalli Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 Thanks I will try it now and post back results in few days. So far is not good as half of the battery already gone.
Guest Pelemane Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 I had best battery life in Finnish Fillyjonk but its 2.1. My battery lasted easily 5 days on it and now I have JJ and I get two days at about same usage :P

Guest dooglex Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Thanks Pelemane, I do not mind 2.1 so gonna try it today. :P I would be very interested to hear your thoughts as I have tried many different Froyo roms and also the battery recalibration trick and still manage only around 10 hours with no wifi, no browsing, no calls, and no data/sync, basically just standby and a few texts. If I have to go back to 2.1 I will but it is not really ideal! Which build did you go for in the end?
Guest dooglex Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 (edited) Double post.. damn mobile internet. Edited February 13, 2011 by dooglex

At 9:00 AM started to read news on the phone with lowest brightness. Battery level dropped to 90% in 15 minutes non-active browsing over 3g. Gonna do battery recalibration and report back. BTW my battery has been replaced with brand new one last week after I told Orange UK that it is not as good as was described.
Guest gremlinman Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 (edited) I can get 2-3 days with My CustomClown ROM wifi on bluetooth on Call time about 5- 10 mins a day lots of gaming bout 1hr a day link to my rom: http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...own-r2-2-2-rom/ Edited February 13, 2011 by gremlinman
Guest dooglex Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 (edited) Damn, I was hoping to send the battery back, but it seems some of us have worse battery life than others. I will try that custom clown rom and see if that makes a difference! Edit: Ok that clown rom is based on MCR, which i've had lots of time with to no effect. Maybe I should try a 2.1 rom and see if that help, I will try and find Flibbelsans most recent 2.1 rom instead! Edited February 13, 2011 by dooglex

It doesn't seem to be developed anymore, but I flashed Bladevillain and that is giving solid battery performance. I don't know what the more recent ROMS offer that add benefit (apart from Froyo), I would consider changing if it had equivalent battery performance.
Guest Rotmann Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Froyo FLB is the best for battery life and performance (confirmed by the majority of the users, including Theme-Guru Frankish :D ) 2.1 is rubbish compared to 2.2. You just can't judge a ROM's battery life like you did it, you have to recalibrate or flash with the battery at 100% and then test it for a few days, the android battery reporting thingy is not accurate, you can not judge that
Guest flibb Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 I have tried three different 2.2 ROMS, and have on several occasions had battery problems. In each case I have found that its an app or widget causing the problem. A quick test for an obvious problem is will it wake from standby (after 5 mins) using the home or back button. Another check is put it in airplane mode overnight, does it still drop loads of charge.
Guest Rower85 Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 I thought my battery was useless at first too, but then i tryed the Desire Battery trick and it got very good. I can manage to have my battery last for 24h with active sync/3g, and if i have that option off, then it will last a very very long time. A recalibration of the battery is key in the phone showing current batterytime though! I have an OSF with FLB r2
Guest dooglex Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 Hmm I will give the overnight on flight mode a try, what should I be expecting? Little drop in battery if any? I have noticed that even if I turn my phone off completely it still seems to lose charge?! Not sure if OP has the same thing? If I turn it off and remove the battery then all seems well, but if i just straight turn off then it seems to still drain power. Mine is a very early unit I think, a week or so after they were released, perhaps an earlier underlying firmware causing a problem? Have already tried the wipe battery info trick, several times on several roms!

Guest firebrother Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 i have been experiencing nearly 5 times better in battery life in JJ RLS9 during standby by switching off wifi / bluetooth/ 3G data (if you don't use them) killing Alarm Clock / Gmail / Email (if you don't use them)
Guest dooglex Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 i have been experiencing nearly 5 times better in battery life in JJ RLS9 during standby by switching off wifi / bluetooth/ 3G data (if you don't use them) killing Alarm Clock / Gmail / Email (if you don't use them) I always have wifi and bluetooth off, usually data as well now, I've tried using advanced task killer to auto kill everything except itself and that didn't seem to help much either. I tried to flb g2, the latest froyo version and am having the same thing, taken off charge at 10am, 75%by 12, and dead by 8, a few light texting and standby is all it is doing. I flashed the rom with the battery freshly charged overnight from an AC to USB adapter showing AC mode in spare parts, so I think it should be full! Maybe the next step is to download the stock 2.1 rom and try that for a while, otherwise I guess maybe time for a new phone, 10 hours of charge with everything off sucks! Alternatively I could try and pick up a new battery I guess.

I get 1-1,5 days of battery life but I listen on my way to work to online radio (45 min.), HSDPA always on (2 IMAP E-Mail accounts + Yahoo messenger), weather sync every 3 hours, news sync every 6 hours, browsing, chatting 15-30 minutes and jogging with Cardiotrainer-Endomondo. My wife gets 4 days on light usage, she uses internet 10 minutes a day on Wi-Fi, no data package for her yet.
Guest Ilkin Jamalli Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 Well I am on de_oranged Sebastian ROM 2.1 and this is the longest my phone survived. After 26 hours it shown 16% remaining. Maybe it was result of proper battery recalibration but gonna test JJ RLS9 too.
