Guest macher Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 It's possible to change this hardware? it's the same slot and voltage and other things?
Guest Azurren Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 It's possible to change this hardware? it's the same slot and voltage and other things? Really unless you have done this sort of thing before I would highly recommend not attempting it! Not only would the tiniest slip with a soldering iron completely ruin your blade but also you have to think about compatibility conflicts, hardware level drivers etc. Besides the fact that the 5mp sensor is almost as bad as your current 3mp sensor. Drivers are everything! (See the iPhone 4 with it's 5mp sensor and super drivers / software!)
Guest Lew247 Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 If it's anything like the Nokia phones then it won't be soldered, The connnectors will be obviously but the camera itself should be a module that can be "popped out" to repair or replace

Guest Matus Kalisky Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 It's possible to change this hardware? it's the same slot and voltage and other things? Why would one do that? If you want better photos than either get a different phone or just the cheapest P&S camera you can find - it will trump any phone's camera. Based on what I have read about the cameras in Blade, both 3.2 and 5.0 are on the weak side.
Guest Lew247 Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 True they are both on the weak side, but if you get rid of that glass on the back it does take a decent picture Also it saves having to carry 2 devices around. I'd rather have the 5 than the 3 given the choice even if I had to pay for it. (personally though I'd rather ZTE release a new phone with a 5-8MP camera, zenon flash, dual core processor or at least 1gb processor if single core but still cheaper than most of the other makes, it would sell SO fast and beat most of the competition) The Blade's biggest let down is the lack of a flash for the camera
Guest oh!dougal Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 (edited) ... The Blade's biggest let down is the lack of a flash for the camera Its not often recognised that its taking photos in the dark (and artificial lighting is MUCH darker than daylight) is what causes the Blade's camera to seem to have a noise problem. A flash would limit the camera's range in the dark, but would give crisper (and harsher) pictures. And the 5mp isn't much different. From looking at the photos of the hardware take apart (search the forum for the thread on "Venus", and download the materials from the FCC) I have no doubt that it is soldered down. And I don't know where you'd get a replacement module anyway ... If you really want one, how about finding a Finnish-forum-pal to get you a 5mp complete phone? Edited February 11, 2011 by oh!dougal
Guest SqueakyG Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 The camera on the Blade is pathetic. I already had a pretty cheap phone with a 3.2 megapixel camera and no flash (Samsung Tocco Lite), and I thought that was pretty rough. But I was amazed to see how much worse the Blade is! Murky, fuzzy, and your hands have to be as still as a tripod to not blur the pics. Also I get interference sometimes that puts moving horizontal lines on the picture. Oh, and I tried the camera with the back taken off the phone. No difference - so I don't believe reports that the plastic housing affects the quality. The 5 megapixel variant might be slightly better. But I would just pretend this phone doesn't have a camera.
