Guest scoobydoo99 Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 Repalcement white tft arrived today. Was planning to set it up as per last 4 - unlock, clockwork, customised bladevillian. But this Blade isn't playing ball, power on with the volume up, just boots as normal - previous Blades held at the green android and allowed installation of clockwork via fastboot. On this Blade, straight out of the box, holding the volume down and power on, it takes me to a screen that has a large white square with FTM in capitals - what on earth is this? Any reason why it wouldn't go to the usual zte recovery by using the power on, volume up method?

Dont know why it doesnt stay in android if holding volume+ but mine blade had the FTM thing too in stock when holding volume-.
Guest Sebastian404 Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 Dont know why it doesnt stay in android if holding volume+ but mine blade had the FTM thing too in stock when holding volume-. your volume keys work as you'd expect in android? what version of the rom are you using? check its not a new one, and then install universal androot, and then recovery manager and install clockwork that way.... if it is a new one, use romdump and pm me a link to the rom b10 was the latest one we've seen
Guest scoobydoo99 Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 It's the B10 rom and the volume buttons work as normal. Could universal androot it but I'm a bit reluctant to root and rom in case there's something wrong with the phone - like to understand why it's not behaving like every other Blade.

I've not checked out the B10, but I guess its possible Orange have decided to 'fix' that little backdoor we've been using

Guest scoobydoo99 Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 Hmm i should get my white blade in the morning hope it is all ok. Can i ask why you are on your 5th blade? Bought 4 for me and kids - 1 developed a faulty touchscreen (seems to be a known fault with poor soldering on the digitiser connector). The 5th one is the replacement for the faulty one - but I'd bought one in case it wasn't easy to get replaced - turn out it was easy but keeping number 5 as well and ditching the X6 we have. Ace phones :P
Guest scoobydoo99 Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 As an update I think the phone they've sent me is faulty. I can't get a mobile signal for any network - while sat next to my OLED version with a full 4 bars signal. When doing a manual search for networks, it comes up with the error 'network busy'. Phoned Orange and a 2nd replacement is on it's way, should have it tomorrow. Be interesting to see if I can get into the ZTE recovery or not. ADB wouldn't work either with this phone - it couldn't find the phone?
Guest jasonXXx Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 Update My white tft phone came today and its still running 2.1 also there is no disabled buttons i flashed sebs lates clockwork via fastboot then flashed my modified de_crossed r0.2(M2) all works nice.
Guest sabio_proeliat Posted February 28, 2011 Report Posted February 28, 2011 Ive got the same problem. Volume up doesnt work, bought it yesterday :s
Guest StevenHarperUK Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 More info in this thread http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...stboot-blocked/
Guest xzyk Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 also already discussed in the thread entitled "Are new Blades being sold with +Vol + Power Disabled?". B10 version do indeed have the vol up keys disabled. Use adb to install recovery image then you can use clockwork again, or use sebastian404 method above.
