Guest itomi Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 I have a ZTE Blade with JJfish rls9 on it and have this big problem: I can't mount the internal microSD by connecting the phone with microUSB on OS X... The phone recognizes the USB, tell me to activate the storage, I do that.. but nothing happens on the Mac, no new drive mounted. The phone charges, but not mounts the internal SD :P Any idea on how to let OS X mount it? Thanks
Guest miikalep Posted February 17, 2011 Report Posted February 17, 2011 (edited) Exactly the same problem here. I have Aluminium Macbook running OSX 10.5.8. Blade has JJ rls9. I did the fastboot on an WinXP machine. Did not have any problems with stock rom (finnish saunalahti Android 2.1). If I take the SD out and try it with a card reader it mounts fine. Also everything works fine with micro usb cable and the phone on my old iBookG4 (OSX 10.3.9) and my WinXP and Win7 machines. I´ve tried clearing all the caches in the Macbook, rebooting with alt+command+p+r, battery out + 5 seconds of power button, guest account, bolth USB ports, different usb cables, with and without debuggin mode on the phone, tried running Usb Prober (sees the phone same as Sys Proifler). System profiler sees the phone like this: ZTE HSUSB Device: Product ID: 0x1351 Vendor ID: 0x19d2 Version: 2.26 Serial Number: XXXXXXX (removed by me) Speed: Up to 480 Mb/sec Manufacturer: ZTE Incorporated Location ID: 0x24100000 Current Available (mA): 500 Current Required (mA): 500 Connecting the phone charges the battery but never mounts the SD. Really frustrating! What to do, what to do? Edited February 17, 2011 by miikalep
Guest simonsays1 Posted February 17, 2011 Report Posted February 17, 2011 My Blades (running JapJelly rls9 and FLB-froyo r8a) work fine with my iMac (OSX 10.6.6). I need to hit the screen a couple of times to activate the usb storage mode but I've never had problems connecting. I plug in, hit USB connected, hit "turn on usb storage", then "0K" the a few second later the SD card shows up as a drive in OS X. I have "USB debugging" ticked in settings-applications settings-development, I don't know if this makes any difference ?
Guest Ralph Martin Posted February 17, 2011 Report Posted February 17, 2011 JJ9 and MacOS X 10.6.6 work fine for me too, on both a MacBook Pro and a Mac Pro. Just a thought - have you ever had a ZTE dongle on your Mac? That comes with a kernel extension to prevent the dongle's internal flash from mounting once you have used it to install the dongle driver. Maybe the Blade looks like the Dongle to this.

This could possibly be the case for me, I´ve had several dongles on this machine. Any way to remove this kernel extension? Also, mounting did work with the 2.1 Saunalahti stock rom. I´ve "isolated" the problem to be between JJ rls9 and this particular Mac. I have also tried re-installing the bundled software update 10.5.8 without any help. Edit. Problem solved! I guess it was the dongle theory. I uninstalled 2 dongle softwares, one Broadcom Brand (for finnish Elisa network) and one Nokia Brand (for Saunalahti, subsidiary of Elisa, this has meaning for some finnish readers). The Saunalahti software (for the Nokia dongle) launched after connecting the phone, so it must have recognized the phone wrongly to be a ZTE dongle, and has been blocking mounting. I took the "launch when plugging in" off some days ago and forgot about it, couldn't figure out the problem anymore. I guess the connection software has drivers for other manufacturers than the Nokia that I was using. Thank You Ralph Martin! Edited February 18, 2011 by miikalep
