Guest shmvn Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 Hello to everyone. I found this website very useful, and decided to root my orange sf and install custom rom. Before doing it I also made a backup. I installed the FLB-Froyo G2, and everything is ok so far I think. But what happened is that all contacts are lost I think because they are not shows and when tried to import from simcard ( thats where they were ) it says it is empty. Also some programs ( i only had 3 lol ) are also not there, i believe that they were wiped/erased, so I tried to install them again through market e.g. the ES file explorer, but it says that it is already installed however i cant find it on my phone. Maybe I am not looking in the right places ? If anyone knows answers to these questions please help, will be very thankful! :P
Guest Lew247 Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 Sign into google and once there it will sync and they will reappear after a few minutes Assuming you had previously signed into google before you flashed your rom
Guest shmvn Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 Sorry, internet is really bad , accidentally posted twice.
Guest shmvn Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 Did not work, because I did not sign in to gmail account on phone before.. Does not the backup save them ?
Guest Lew247 Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 Yes but you'd have to restore the backup If you do this, sign into google once you have done that and give it 5-10 mins to sync and then your contacts will automatically reappear next time you flash a new rom (once you sign into google again after flashing that is)

I mean I went to reboot into clockworkmod recovery, but that option should I choose, backup and restore ? Will that create a 2nd backup yes ? So if I restore the old backup whhat would I have to do then to bring the new one ? Thanks in advance
Guest Lew247 Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 Not knowing exactly what you did I can't say for certain But it if was me I would have made a backup before I flashed a new rom To get the contacts back I'd restore that backup sign into google give it at least ten minutes to sync, or ON A COMPUTER I'd go here http://www.google.com/contacts and check all my contacts were showing. Once showing I'd reboot into clockwork flash the new rom sign into google and the contacts will reappear in a few moments.
Guest shmvn Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 What I just did I went to advance and choose restore data, and pressed on reboot and still waiting for it.
Guest shmvn Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 I have been waiting now for almost half an hour and still nothing, did not reboot, the background animations keeps playing but it does not switch on to the main screen.
Guest Lew247 Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 When you were in clockwork did you click on backup and restore and then click restore? Actually did you click backup before flashing the new rom?
Guest shmvn Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 (edited) Backup and restore, advanced, then I chose restore and restore data. But I did not backup the new rom. After waiting for 30min, now I just took the battery out put it back again and when I switch on its only that colorful animated background that keeps playing thats it. Guest shmvn Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Any help would be very much appreciated, hopefully i didnt break my phone, :/
Guest Lew247 Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Why advanced? Whenever I did it I just pressed restore and it all worked fine
Guest shmvn Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Why advanced? Whenever I did it I just pressed restore and it all worked fine well there was an option to choose restore data, restore system restore cache and anoter two i think. I choose restore data, believiing that thats where contacts will be. But now the phone has literally frozen on this background animation, cant do anything. Or there is something I can still do to fix it ?
Guest Lew247 Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 When i go into clockwork, I press backup and restore it then gves me 3 options backup restore or advanced simply press restore and then reboot once its done if that doesn't work I don't know what will At this stage take your battery out and try what I just said. if it don't work then hopefully someone else will be along tomorrow to suggest something else

Even after I take the battery out and put back again its the same problem. OK, like you said hopefully tomorrow someone might be able to help.
Guest Lew247 Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Take the battery out hold the Volume DOWN button then press the power button it should then go into clockwork (you must have done that when you did the backup?) once in clockwork, press backup and restore then click restore then choose the restore point you want to restore (I presume you will only have one in there so just click that) Wait till its finished then reboot the phone - it will take a while to finish just be patient.

OK I just did that, but before installing a new rom I decided to backup those 3 apps with titanium backup(and busybox), now I have installed new ROM. How can I restore those apps ?

How can I restore those apps ? Install Titanium - it will see the backed up files (on the SDCard) - then use titanium to restore them.
Guest shmvn Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 (edited) Install Titanium - it will see the backed up files (on the SDCard) - then use titanium to restore them. Yes but I don't have the app that I was using to install it ( es file explorer , i think it was erased with wiping the data, and i actually did a backup on it) so how can I install titanium without that app ? Or I should download another file manager ( astro ) to do this ? Or there is easier way to install the app ? thanks Edited February 13, 2011 by shmvn
Guest Phoenix Silver Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 just download titanium from the market
Guest shmvn Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 just download titanium from the market Hmm yes I did not think about that. But I think went to android market online from PC and it did not recognise my phone, which means I can just install those apps again from phone(market) and dont really need to restore the backed up version.
Guest shmvn Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 By the way, can I now delete all the programs from SD card, used to do rooting and installing new rom, like recovery manager, universall androot, and recovery-clockwork-2.5.1.8-blade. ? Or I should keep them there ? thanks again
Guest Phoenix Silver Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 rom is rooted you can delete universal androot same thing with clock....img clockwork is installed recovery manager don't know i don't use it what i suggest you is just create a directory in pc called android (or what you want) put all the files in
Guest shmvn Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 OK thanks, I have that already :P
