Guest Maxwell4321 Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Hi Got a brand new San Francisco from Argos on thursday which I believe is the latest batch, I have made attempts to unlock it to my O2 sim using the code generators and the supplied Apk from ArrToo in the free simlock codes thread and each time it just says Network unlock unsuccessful. :P My IMEI is correct and each code generator returns exactly the same unlock codes. I was going to reflash the ROM to a different version but then realised that the simlock is seperate from the ROM anyway so that would not help, my only conclusion then is that ZTE have changed the lock code algorithm for the latest batch of phones. :D  :P From Phone Info Firmware 2.1 update 1 Baseband P729BB01 Kernel 2.6.29 Build OUK_P729BV1.0.0B08 Any help/info/comments would be greatly appreciated
Guest Lew247 Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Flash one of the 2.2 roms, they unlock the phone anyway

Guest psidoc Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Very strange. Last monday I unlocked mine on Artoo's site using the imei and yours is identical to mine with regards to the details you have put in your post. If you like PM me your imei and let's see if I get the same unlock code as you. Maybe a second pair eyes may spot something you have missed. Psi
Guest curl66 Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 the new "black" swiss blades has also a slightly modified rom. it doesnt propmt you to input the unlockcode when putting in a non orange sim card. my solution was to flash the UK stock rom for TFT first then do the unlock.
Guest Maxwell4321 Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Flash one of the 2.2 roms, they unlock the phone anyway Thanks was going to flash Japanese Jellyfish but it apparently needs unlock first suggesting that the 2.2 roms don't perform a true unlock but just don't do the checks instead. if you send me the dumped rom, i will look at the new algorithm. Thanks - I have dumped the ROM and put it on mediafire the link is in the PM let me know if you have any problems with the download and if you find anything. Very strange. Guest gerrk Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 downloading it now. any news? i think i have the same problem, i tried twice with the "classic" way.I have the same phone info with Maxwell4321.
Guest Maxwell4321 Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 any news? i think i have the same problem, i tried twice with the "classic" way.I have the same phone info with Maxwell4321. With many thanks to Isambard for his investigations - it would appear that the original ROM had been modified by ZTE so that some of the unlock functions have been deleted from the ROM itself making it impossible to unlock using the standard method. It also appears that that ROM apart from blocking the unlock code also disabled ZTE Blade Recovery and caused the Superuser app to force close a soon as an app requested SU permissions. I have now solved those problems by installing Clockwork via the Fastboot method (only method that worked) then flashing Sebastian's r9 ROM, this then allowed me to perform the proper unlock before further flashing to the Modaco r12 Froyo. I know I could have flashed straight to 2.2 but my tenacious side wanted to know if I could get round the original problem first lol

But are they always unlockable using another metod? At the end, are you able to unlock it? Is it still possible? According to the rom update guide some new terminals can't use Fastboot method as you have done. I need to know it cause i have to buy another Blade in a few days and it's possible that i find one of those terminals with the new unlock block. Edited March 16, 2011 by Coyote74

Guest njwatts Posted March 22, 2011 Report Posted March 22, 2011 Can You explain us step by step. Sorry I'm a novice. I second bgajic, i have the same problem as the conventional unblocking method doesn't work. I haven't a clue how to unlock it any other way. Help would be very much appreciated! Cheers
Guest Paarkhi Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 Please, step by step tutorial would be good for the newbies like us to unlock sim when the classical method is not working Thank you
Guest Arr Too Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 Is this not the standard B08 version, then? Is there a ROM dump for it somewhere?
Guest Paarkhi Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 (edited) Thanks - I have dumped the ROM and put it on mediafire the link is in the PM let me know if you have any problems with the download and if you find anything. Guest Arr Too Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 Can you please tell us how to flash a custom ROM so that sim can be unlocked, I'm a complete newbie. Newbie guide is here. I'd have thought that flashing a stock ROM (B08 or B10) would be enough to get the unlock back (assuming it's actually gone). But I have seen reports that Fastboot mode may also be disabled on some new units, which makes things a little more complicated.

Thanks for the link for the newbie guide but I already had bookmarked it, actually what I wanted to ask is whether can you give us a method through which we can flash and unlock the sim lock or is it simply not possible now :D
Guest rjm2k Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 Would be interesting to know if the advice on here http://www.wintechmobiles.com/unlocking/ho...e-to-zte-phone/ works for the blades that don't ask for an unlock code.... 1.Insert an unacceptable SIM card to locked phone, now phone should ask unlock code (NP code?). Easy just enter code. 2.Not working?, alright now remove the SIM card and try this code ###825*09# . got the prompt for code? enter the code. 3.Failed above, try *983*8284# . It should work.

I already read that but until someone doesn't confirm it, I can't take the risk, as I'm not from UK and if I cannot unlock then the phone will be just a paper weight for me.
Guest Arr Too Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 actually what I wanted to ask is whether can you give us a method through which we can flash and unlock the sim lock or is it simply not possible now :D They might have changed something low-level, but I suspect they've just changed the software, so flashing the older stock ROM ought to work (in a similar way that flashing most of the custom ROMs removes the necessity for unlocking).
Guest Paarkhi Posted March 26, 2011 Report Posted March 26, 2011 Not worth the pain and risk as I already said I'm not from UK and am from India and have to tell someone from UK to send it here and then take the chances of unlocking it, if it doesn't then useless so instead I'm going with LG optimus one p500. Thanks all
