Guest sagim Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Hello, Can anyone identify the differences between ROM version regarding SD partitioning (or in short which will be the best for use?)? D2WE, D2EXT, A2SD or others probably when querying for best it will be speed and available space In that same matter, what will be the optimal partition size and type? (regular use, some apps etc.) Thanks
Guest bpivk Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 (edited) Those are different implementations and you won't find a consensus about them. Some people prefer one and some the other. The difference is in the script and mounting of the partition. You can find the explanation and pluses and minuses for all the implementations on xda if you search for them. Some implementation will be faster if you have a slow SD card I've used data2whatever and data2sd and I have to say that although you get more internal memory it's useless if you don't have a card thats faster than Class 4. Data2sd and ext2 is the only usable alternative to a2sd now at least on my SD card. I have to test the other implementation that Alex-V is using in his roms. People report good speeds with that. So on my Class 4 SD card it goes like this: data2sd on EXT2 = Ok speeds data2sd on EXT3/4 = Laggy as hell data2whatever (Tested versions 0,2e/ 0,4) = Laggy but not as laggy as data2sd (still useless if you install or update more than one thing from the market) EDIT: Also note that data2ext can experience some data loss if you use the reboot option of some custom roms because the system is not unmounted cleanly.
