Guest pjmp Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 I have just installed FLB-Froyo G2 r8a, having backed up using both Titanium Backup & Recovery Manager. After the install (a painless process thanks to the instructions here), I restored some of the apps I had previously installed on the stock ROM. I also tried restoring the SMS data. This duly appeared after a reboot. However when ever I viewed a thread (hope this is correct term) and then pressed rerturn key, the Messages app would force close. I checked and could both send & receive SMS. So next step was to backup the messages to google mail, which I did with SMS backup. I then deleted all threads, hoping that the clear out would stop the issue. Instead, has got worse, now can not send or receive SMS. Is there an easy way to get back to working SMS? A side issue is Titanium Backup now hangs at "Asking for root rights...", despite Superuser showing it having rights. The behaviour seems to imply phone is no longer rooted. Should I install Universal Androot as I did with the stock ROM? Thanks for any assistance, Peter
Guest pjmp Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 Well just to reply to my own post. I have fixed by clearing cache & data and factory reset. As I saw elsewhere, restoring settings (such as SMS) from 2.1 to 2.2 is not a good idea. I have also found that Titanium worked again prior to the wipe, so a bit odd as to why failed. A quick question: is it OK to restore Apps from 2.1 to 2.2? Thanks Peter I have just installed FLB-Froyo G2 r8a, having backed up using both Titanium Backup & Recovery Manager. For all the other apps you got from the market it works perfectly! The hanging on titanium is a well known problem. Just restart the app, and it will work again (sometimes you will have to restart the app a few times).
