Guest cacoe Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 (edited) There's a lot to offer on here for anyone wanting a custom ROM+installation, with bazillions of mods and stuff. I just thought it might be easier for newcomers (like me) to understand what a lot of the stuff offered here might actually be useful for. At the moment, I'm using Japanese Jellyfish 9 because it seemed to be the most popular ROM and everything seems good at the moment. Well apart from GPS seems crazy but I can live with that. I have hardware acceleration enabled and the gingerbread theme. I've moved all the apps I can to my SD to save some ineternal space with SDmove and I'm using launcherpro because it seems much smoother than the stock launcher. I'd like to repartition, that is, as soon as I know what the advantages are! I also tried the Modaco ROM but I didn't like the included security software. I went and paid for a subscription for the kitchen sink panel to customise the install, only to find out later on, that (I think, I'm not even sure yet!) it generates an updater for an older version of the modaco ROM, not a clean ROM install. Also, after that, I found that I could have simply removed a few files from the ROM zip file and I would have saved £10. Either way, it all turned out good :D I know this is probably dry stuff to veterans but if I could have seen a thread like this (hopefully full of people's experiences) it would have made it a bit easier to make choices, and I might even change my mind on some things yet. So, how do you use your Blade? Edited February 13, 2011 by cacoe

No it generates a clean rom with the options you want on it, and often it's a newer version than the "precooked" (unpaid for) version Simply do a wipe before installing and you'll be doing a clean install If you just want to update your rom then don't wipe first and you keep the data already on the phone
Guest targetbsp Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 There are also a few alternative choice apps (such as dialer, lockscreen etc) that aren't simply a case of wanting an app or not.
