Guest tomthered Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Have searched and searched and know how to reset but what data is lost? Would it be all applications that were loaded on etc. The phone was someone elses and I bought it. They set it up for googlemail and I want to add an account but it wont let me, says I cannot access network even though I am still connected to wireless. I have read a factory reset will solve this. I want to install a custom rom, but need to access the marketplace and to do this I have to sign in. I have a gmail account but it wont let me sign in. Its bugging me now. Any help gratefully received.
Guest Rotmann Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Why do you want to access the market before installing a new ROM? Install the ROM according to the guides (wipe too) and have fun.
Guest Lew247 Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 You sign in AFTER flashing the new rom - flashing the new rom resets everything totally
Guest tomthered Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 point 1 here: (http://www.orangesanfrancisco.co.uk/android/how-to-install-clockworkmod-recovery-on-the-orange-san-francisco-zte-blade/) says to sign in to your gmail account so you can use marketplace. So do i not need to do this. I had read this was a good guide and I was trying to get esfile explorer. cheers for the fast response. Any pointers welcome as I wanted to install clockwork recovery to back up this stock rom and then install a custom rom.
Guest Lew247 Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 Yes its a great guide but if your simply swapping roms you don't "need to" you can download the superboot file off the forum which roots the phone, and clockwork mod off here as well to allow you to flash the new files, and also the new roms Yes the file manager is good, but not "needed" if you root using the superboot method. use the search for boot.blade.superboot.mcri.r3.img There are many ways to do lots of things on the blade, if you cant or dont want to sign into the market, this is the best way if you want to root the phone. Or simply do a reset and it will get rid of the other gmail account anyway and you can sign in with yours
Guest tomthered Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 (edited) cheers for that Lew. One further question hopefully not to stupid. I have Universal Androot and this says the phone is already rooted!! Yet the person I bought it off says they never touched it. Anyway question was will this new method you have told me be affected by that? Am always wary of doing anything to rashly and would rather gather info before I launch into custom roming it! If I just reset, will I lose any applications that are on or will they be retained. I assume there are quite a lot that are standard, is there a list of what I should have? cheers for the help edit - just realised this may be for OLED screens only, is that so as mine is a TFT I think as its a white one bought 20 December 2010. Is it this post? http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...boot-root-mcri/ Tom Edited February 14, 2011 by tomthered
