Have you installed a Froyo (2.2) rom?

Or you could get an overclocked kernel.. But I wouldn't recommend that :D

You could experiment with different roms but your not going to be able to squeeze much more from a 600mhz ARM6 processor :D

Overclocking helps your benchmark scores but does very little when actually using the device

What makes you say that?

What makes you say that?

Angry birds still lags and transactions / scrolling / zooming is exactly the same

You really can't notice much of a difference

About lockscreen lag.. I'm running JapJelly and can't say I've noticed (Hardly any at all)

Could it be something to do with installing launcher pro maybe the rom im using at the minute is FLB-Froyo r8.

If you're using Launcher Pro Plus, then the widgets are an absolute performance killer. If you limit yourself to one, maybe two of them, the Blade performs OK, but try using any more, and goodbye performance.

It's really kinda annoying there aren't any comparisons of programs and/or widgets based on how CPU-intensive they are. The word "lightweight" is, lamentably, often misused I think.

Oh, I also notice a performance hit when maps tries to sync itself in the background, same for a couple of other processes (Facebook from time to time). I don't think it's a single process syncing though; more when they chain so there's effectively lots of short-burst bits of CPU-demand. Could be wrong, though; I don't understand the intricacies of Android multitasking yet.

If you want to be strict, and don't mind the phone occasionally closing something you were using, you might think about installing Watchdog, setting a low CPU limit, and then blacklisting anything that tries to steal valuable CPU time. I haven't done that because I'm slightly concerned about the potential for data-loss resulting from an app being killed repeatedly (be it the text I was half-way through writing, the navigation route I had to spend 5 minutes setting up, or my place in Angry Birds). It should mean there's fewer periodic slowdowns, though.

sorry to bump an old thread but I could do with some tips as my phone laaaaaaaggggsss

at times it can be hard to write a simple SMS or Gmail as the screen cant keep up with my typing. When chatting on eBuddy as well it lags, but I suspected it was a memory intensive program

anything easy I can do to get it running smoother? I wonder if this 'Look Out' programme is slowing it down?

n00bish question: what's a decent task manager program that lets me choose the programs that run at start up? maybe this is a problem?

I suspect getting on a 2.2 ROM (I'm on Orange stock atm) would get me running faster? Just I'm a bit short on time to figure all that out :/

First of all, android is not windows, you shouldn't mess with the startup!

Second, a 2.2 ROM is A LOT faster, try Japanese Jellyfish RLS9 or FLB froyo.

Third, I think must of us bought the device to modify it :D So you should be ashamed of yourself since you still run on the stock firmware... xD

When you do install 2.2 on your phone, you should follow the guide(s) very precise, since I guess you are a beginner.

get rid of the stock Orange one and you will notice the change in speed.

Any of the 2.2's - the choice is yours, I'm using FLB-r8a at the moment, I had the Modaco one before that, not a lot to choose really between any of the 2.2's they are all pretty similar all work well.

yea I'm a n00b... but no time to figure out this ROM business :D... i am secretly ashamed, oh yes... plus i'm going travelling for a month from next week so dont want to f*ck up my phone before that

Maybe i'll sack off this Look Out programme as yea, it's not a Windows based system and I'm naive enough to think I wont get a virus :D

Im thinking Viruses are non existent for Android. I may be wrong, but i suspect i'm not. Also, don't write off learning how to flash a ROM, it's definitely not as hard as you think, or as time consuming. Set aside an evening, and give your Blade the OS version it deserves. it'll give back a far better experience as a result. I still can't believe how satisfied i am with this Handset. For the money it's unbeatable.

And yes, the guides on here are amazingly helpful and very clear. IMHO, this site is more valuable than many give it credit for, as without it, i'd not be getting as much value for money out of my Blade, or as much pleasure.

And with regard to overclocking the CPU, i would tend to agree that it's not going to make any difference. Except to battery life, ie, shorten the time between charges.

Go on, treat your Blade to some love and all it'll take is one evening. :)

Hi. I have zte blade with Android 2.3.5(Swedish Snow). I have some tips for better performance:

-use Link2SD to move apps that u can't normally move to your SD card(apps loading a bit slower from SD card, but when they load, phone is faster)

-use Opera Mobile to browse the internet(opera is 50x faster than default browser)

-use any task killer to kill apps running on background

-use Launcher Pro or I use iPhoneLauncher(it is fast too, but no widgets)
