Help my data connection has stopped working. (newbie)

I'm a new San Fran owner who this weekend unlocked, rooted and put the latest modaco r12 rom on my phone. I had giff gaff all working fine, but mid morning I have stopped being able to get data via 2g/3g. I've switched data enabled on and off several times in network settings, switched phone on/off several times too. I've even re run the giffgaff settings application.

I'm no longer getting a little green up and down data indicator beside battery indicator. It'd not there at all, not just not showing traffic...

I'm a bit flummoxed... I live in the wilds of the highland of scotland could this simply be that the mast is down, or do you think I should reinstall the rom or something.. This confuses me too, do I just boot into the clockwork recovery delete the caches and install the rom zip again.

Thanks, please help this newbie!! ta!

If it was working and you haven't changed anything on the phone it's a network problem

Either look on the giffgaff forums or look on the o2 site for any problems with the network

I am on giffgaff and mine changes between "g" and "3g" quite a bit. What does it mean when it does that?

G is GSM (Standard phone data.. Slow but good for email syncing as it saves battery)

3G/H Is fast (Can be compared to dialup vs brodband)

If it is set to auto it will prefer 3g but when it is not available it will use G

You can set it to only use g or 3g if you like

Hope this helps

Before I took more drastic action , I took a quick run in the car to town (13miles) and it was working fine there. So it must be a signal problem out here in the sticks. Thanks.. very much guys...
