Guest aermua Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 hi all i,m using sebs404 R8, i have available space 6.gb on the sd card and 55mb on internal phone, is it possible to use the sd card to store apps etc? Thanks
Guest wolverine73 Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 If it's a 2.2 Rom then yes you can Not all apps can defintely be put on SD though Not all apps should be put on SD either - Widgets and anything requiring super user status are best left on phones memory
Guest wolverine73 Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 it can be done on a 2.1 Rom but your SD card needs partioning (which is fiddly in itself - unless you've got a good knowledge of tech) Also your need an apps 2 SD program to take advantage of it. Probably be better/faster/easier allround to upgrade to a 2.2 Rom where you can put apps on SD without partitioning..... Only advice i can give :D however some of the other community might provide you with links if you wanted to stay with your 2.1 Rom on how to partition perhaps :D
Guest ztedd Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 Here is a full guide explaining how to get more free space for your apps. Should answer your questions: [GUIDE] How to get more FREE SPACE for your apps 2011-02-15; A2SD/ change partitition sizes (all ROMs)/ move data to SD
Guest ztedd Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 (edited) it can be done on a 2.1 Rom but your SD card needs partioning (which is fiddly in itself - unless you've got a good knowledge of tech) Also your need an apps 2 SD program to take advantage of it.It's not such a big problem. For aermua, there are 2 possibilities: 1. changing the size of the internal ROM partitions. It's quite easy and it works with all ROMs, including 2.1 stock ROM. Follow the instructions in the second part of my guide or wait a day or so, then wbaw will post a more easy install package for that. http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...ps/#b_partition You need Clockworkmod Recovery for that. 2. upgrade to a custom 2.2 ROM, eg. FLB-Froyo G2 or Japanese Jellyfish and change the partitions of the sd card using Clockworkmod Recovery, adding an A2SD partition to the sd card. Follow the instrcutions in this guide to install a Custom ROM: http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...-the-zte-blade/ In the first part it explains how to install Clockworkmod Recovery using Recovery Manager (quite easy now). With Clockworkmod Recovery you then can partition your sd card to use A2SD (explained in my guide). Edited February 15, 2011 by ztedd
Guest Shrikey Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 Im confused about something here. If im running a 2.2 which i am (JJr8), is it also better to partition the card for a2sd or does the rom not cover that naturally? I partitioned my card using clockwork with EXT3 and have a completely unused 512mb part and also some apps can be moved to the normal part of the sd card using 'move to sd'. Why isnt the EXT3 part being used and is it even needed at all? Ive havent gone mad installing apps but im back to constantly having to uninstall stuff to make room again. Do most phones have much more space for apps? On a 2.2 Rom with some form of sd app support should we or should we not partition the sd card?
