Guest mhatherly Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 I have a Streak 5" that gets stuck at the dell logo. I cannot get into recovery or any other mode with any variation of key combinations and timings. The Streak just started buzzing one day and is now stuck like this. Through lots of help from this site and StreakDroid I have got to grips with QDLTool and done all the certification stuff for windows 7 64. Also tried the same with an XP professional machine. I get stuck with the failed ADB drivers problem but cannot install them. I have done lots of research on this too but have realised that I cannot install the drivers properly without a Streak that I can put into USB mode. I do not know anyone with a Streak. I have tried the ADB drivers from the SDK, PDAnet, Dell suite and others. Any advice would be welcome.

If you download clockworkmod I think the installation folder contains a version of adb you can execute in isolation, i.e. without the drivers. Is that what you're after? Otherwise, although long winded, you could try using Linux from a USB stick or in a virtual machine.

Thanks, it looks like you have understood my issue and have given me some things to try. When I get the chance I will try them out and let every one know how I did.

I bought a non booting Streak off eBay and it is doing the same thing but I dont know how my Streak got to this condition. When I try to boot the device into bootloader/fastbboot mode by holding down the camera button and then the power button I get nothing, black screen but the device is looked up and I have to pull the battery to get it to respond again. Is this what happens with yours? Im thinking that if we cant get the device to boot to bootloader/fastboot mode manually, it wont boot to this mode when QDLTool sends it a command to reboot into fastboot mode. To state it differently, I dont think that getting the ADB drivers loaded properly on our PC's is going to solve our problem. A couple of questions for the experts out there. Is the internal 2GB microSD card used when you boot into bootloader/fastboot mode? Could a defective internal 2GB microSD card cause this issue? It would be nice to know before I start tearing apart my Streak, although it looks quite easy on iFixit. Thanks for any advice in advance

[/quote Well, I just replaced the internal SD card in my Streak with a 2GB one I had laying around. I didnt reformat it for the Streak as I havent read enough to know how it should be formatted but...my Streak is still doing the exact same thing as before. Dont know what that means yet. Maybe the SD card has nothing to do with whats happening and is used at this point or maybe it looks bad to the Streak too and if I format it properly it will fix the problem???? One thing I noticed is the SD card I took out showed up as 246.??GB drive in my windows laptop????? Unfortunately I have to stop dicking around and go to work now.
Guest ehTuBrutus Posted February 25, 2011 Report Posted February 25, 2011 just an update...i did look at the original sd card in Ubuntu and as far as I could tell it was OK. It showed up as 256MB partition and a 1.8GB partition. As I don't know enough about Androids file structure I cant say if any files were missing or not...so I ended up putting it back in my Streak for now. Anybody have any suggestions for the original post? Does anyone know where there is a good writeup/overview on the boot procedure on Android/Streak?

I have bought a 2nd Streak with a broken screen that works otherwise, so when I get it (probably a week or more) I will cornfirm that the ADB drivers are loaded on my PC correctly or not and give an update.

I tried some of the suggestions here but still with no success. In the end I tried to arrange a replacement but actually got a refurb instead. However I have kept it as it seems to now work fine. I figure a refurb will have been more thoroughly tested than a new device anyway. Interestingly the refurb arrived with a new MAC address. I am not sure if this means there was some new hardware installed or just a complete software/firmware change.
