How to stop auto rotation for Phone app?

Is there the way to make the phone app stay in portrait?

I hate it when I hit the phone icon and it appears to be in lanscape mode and I have to wait for about 2 sec for the portrait mode.

It's really annoying.

Please help.

I'm on Froyo 2.2 built 322. Rooted.

Not possible.

Smart rotator is hopeful but unfortunately the basic orientation is landscape and this confuses the program.
