Guest phlum Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 (edited) I think it's either a G or a H. H being hspda which is 3G WRONG!! HSDPA is faster than 3G. It is a kind of 3G, but faster than the 'vanilla' 3G. It's what phone networks call "3G+" - as is much-touted on various Orange San Fran user manuals and packaging. Anyway...@OP, you need to have a look at your settings to see if you... A. are on the correct Network Operator B. have the correct APNs installed C. have wireless Data enabled. All of these can be modified by going into Settings > Wireless and Networks > scroll down to Mobile Networks. To get to the APN and Network Operator stuff, hit GSM/UTMS Options. Since you're on O2, you will need to select 'Telefonica O2 UK Limited' from the Network Operator list. If you have no APNs or are stuck with a large list of them, reply to this message with yer issue. Edited February 15, 2011 by phlum

I rarely seem to get the 3G icon - but it is there and you will get it if you are in a 3G area. However don't be alarmed if you see 'H', because it's a lot faster than 3G! :D Hope that's cleared up for you. Well actually in some ways he's RIGHT!! As with some of the Froyo Roms the 3g icon is misrepresented as an "H" even when getting standard 3g speeds (Normal android phones will switch between 3g/H(3g+) I haven't tested all Froyo roms but it could be the same with all of them Back on topic: :D You data connection is either un-ticked in "Settings > Wireless Networks > Mobile Networks" Your "APN" is incorrect or Your network hates you.. In which case you could wait (And see if they solve it) or contact them

Either those, or he's not registered to a network operator. Which is probably not right because he's apparently getting signal. @OP - can you tell us if you're seeing 'Telefonica O2 UK Limited' when you pull down the notification screen?
Guest cacoe Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 (edited) Well, all I have to say is, I'M GLAD WE CAME TO AN AGREEMENT!! My apn settings seemed to fudge up on occasion too, try setting them manually. Edited February 15, 2011 by cacoe
