Error - Out of Space when installing apks

Hope someone can offer a solution.

Original Orange Rom

21MB Raging Thunder apk on the SD

When I click to install it I get the error

"Raging Thunder II could not be viewed. Free up space on your phone and try again."

I've uninstalled more than 50MB and still get the same error. Can I force an install to the SD ?

If you go to settings - sd card, how much free space is shown to you for sd card and internal memory?

If you start Terminal Emulator and type "df", what's the output for /system, /data and /mnt/sdcard?

You can try to follow the second part of this guide to get more free space by changing the partition sizes. This works with 2.1 Stock Orange ROM as well as with Custom ROMs:

Are you sure that someone else can install this version of Raging Thunder without problems? perhaps it's a problem related to this install apk.

As you have ~73 MB of free space in /data, it should be possible to install it.

Maybe try a reboot. And check if others can install it.

In general I would recommend to switch to a 2.2 Custom ROM (FLB-Froyo G2 or Japanese Jellyfish) and to change the partition sizes, this would give you ~130 MB fore free space in /data for your apps.

If you wait a day or so, wbaw will post a much simpler install package for changed partition sizes, or you use my step-by-step guide.

Note that if you want to change the partition sizes, you should use the slim version ("for TPT users") of FLB-Froyo.

You can use Titanium Backup to backup and restore apps and data, however some Google Apps don't like to get the old 2.1 data.
