Hi, Managed to update software to 1.09 - now trying to get market on my Vega.

is it possible to add r8 to my Vega.

I have download r8 ( rom raid balancing ) and extracted files - then when i go to: devise manager: i see: NVIDIA TEGRA 2 USB DEVISE - i right click update drivers find file and get this message: the best driver for your devise is already installed...

Am i doing this right or missing something...

Thanks again in advance....

To answer your initial question, yes you can. Because I just did. Uninstall the drivers for the Tegra 2 USB device and then point it to the drivers you need to install.

Right Click on the device in the device manager, click "update driver software", click "Browse my computer...", click "Let me Pick...", click "Have disk", point to where the driver is.

I am confused why you are seeing "Tegra 2 USB device" in device manager cos when I connect mine I see 'Android Phone' but that's probably what you will see when the drivers are correctly installed. Ensure you have Vega connected to the PC by USB cable with USB Debugging option running and power supply connected.

I think the cleanest way of updating your drivers is as follows:-

First, using Windows Explorer you need to go to the folder on your PC where you unzipped the files from Pauls download pack. In that folder will be a folder called 'usbdriver' and within that, one called 'usb_driver' and it is in this sub-folder where all the drivers you need are held.

Go to CONTROL PANEL>SYSTEM>HARDWARE>DEVICE MANAGER and if you have the Vega connected by USB (with power on) you should see some new hardware called ANDROID PHONE and/or NVIDIA HARMONY or in your case TEGRA 2 USB DEVICE. Right click on each entry and click 'Uninstall' then go to the top of the list where it displays your computers name and right click on the entry and select 'Scan for hardware changes'. The Windows new hardware wizard will then pop-up asking if you have a driver disk or not. Say you have and browse to the folder called 'usb_driver' described above and select it. The hardware should then be installed with the correct drivers.

Repeat the 'install-windows.bat' command and hopefully this time a whole list of program output should appear showing it is working and in less than a minute it should all be done and your Vega will reboot itself. Then on Vega go into SETTINGS>ABOUT DEVICE and the Kernel Version should show you have updated correctly.

Note:- You may need to do the above with every new release as it seems to be the only way of updating the drivers properly unless someone else can tell us a better way

Guys, As far as I know, this is pretty pointless, as Pauls rom basically wipes everything to do with anyversion of the rom, and replaces it with 1.08, so applying that patch to 1.09 will just downgrade it to Pauls modded 1.08, and you will loose the new flash (which is a lot faster and can play amour games very well).

If you want to have a go with my 1.09 rom called r8a please feel free.

+1

Up to r6 (or r7, can't remember) Pauls work was called a MCR Add-ON, which means: MoDaCo Custom ROM Add-On.

r8 is 'just' called MCR, which means it's a MuDaCo Custom ROM (Full ROM) and not an add-on anymore!
