WiFi Performance

Hi Guys

I'm wondering if someone can help with a problem I have. Basically if I connect to wifi in the same room as my router all is well and I get a blazing fast web experience and the market flies etc but if I go in to the next room the signal drops to 2 bars (wifi still) and I am unable to get it to use the routers speed, it seems like it is dropping back to 3g/2g even though the wifi signal is still there. For comparison sakes I tested my partners galaxy s and everywhere in the house she can get great speed via wifi.

What gives? I heard something about the streak not using certain channels is it something to do with that? Is there anything I can do about it?
