Guest otsox Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Hi! I was running latest FLB-Froyo/Jellyfish on my Finnish Blade, but now my USB port seems busted. I want to take the phone to the shop for repairs, but the Clockworkmod is a slight concern for me. I already rolled back to my old backup of Finnish Saunalahti 2.1 ROM, but now I still would like to go for the original recovery. I assume I can't use fastboot to do this without USB. So: 1. Am I going to use recovery.img file from Saunalahti Finnish stock ROM as a new recovery file? Found it from here http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...ade-stock-roms/ 2. Is it possible to be done at all, without fastboot? (Updating from clockwork, with update.zip method for example?) And last, feel free to tell your USB fixing tips, too :D I've tried 2 PC's, 2 different USB cables, 3 different roms, removing the battery, removing SD and SIM card, twitching the cables and connectors. Virtually anything I can dream of! Windows just doesn't recognize the phone at all. I mean, no ding-dong sounds, no exclamation marks or hardware wizards, nada. :D Blade doesn't give me an option to mount it to PC either. Last, thanks for all your work at Modaco! Amazing community!
Guest Phoenix Silver Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 1) i would try with a linux box or a linux live cd 2) if usb is broken you have to use the tpt method to flash the original rom/recovery you need a card reader to copy the files in /sdcard/image you can do it through wifi you can do it through 3g (store the files somewhere on internet)
Guest otsox Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 (edited) Thanks for the real fast reply. 1) i would try with a linux box or a linux live cd Good idea. I'll try the USB once more with a linux live cd. 2) if usb is broken you have to use the tpt method to flash the original rom/recovery TPT, got it! But it's not confirmed for use on Finnish devices... you need a card reader to copy the files in /sdcard/image you can do it through wifi you can do it through 3g (store the files somewhere on internet) Yes, I'm already familiar with ADBwireless. Once more: http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...ade-stock-roms/ EFIN_P729BV1.0.0B02-update_signed.zip -> recovery.img <- Is this the file I should be using? As there are floating stuff like this: http://content.modaco.net/dropzone/blade-b...very-images.zip and I am not sure at all. Or is the only option to use TPT to install the whole boot+recovery+rom pack? Edited February 16, 2011 by otsox
Guest Swimmerboy Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Couldn't wait to get mine home to flash it, so prepared a spare micro-sd card with the relevent files and did it 10 minutes after buying. The recovery partition can be flashed by putting the recovery image in /sdcard/recovery.img (or whatever) and opening a terminal under root and using the following command: flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img

That easy? In android terminal? :D
Guest Swimmerboy Posted February 17, 2011 Report Posted February 17, 2011 Really? That easy? In android terminal? :D Lol, yup! On coming out the shop I used: 1) Filer to install universalAndRoot (or something) that I'd downloaded onto the SD card 2) Filer to install better terminal emulator - flash recovery image from SD Card 3) Reboot into recovery and flash Froyo from a ROM that I'd customised earlier. :D
