Guest Bogside Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Just got my Advent today, but I've had an Android phone for the best part of two years so I'm very familair with the OS. But I've got lots of questions. First of these is why can't I find betting applications in the market? On my phone I have Betfair and Paddy Power but there's no sign of them in the market. Is this because the tablet thinks I'm in the US? And if so, how do I tell it that it's wrong?! Will I have to sideload these?
Guest MonkeyBoy451 Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 (edited) Would help if you mentioned what firmware your currently running and if you've installed any of the Modaco ROMS with Market, etc. Why would the tablet think your in the US? What timezone & language/keyboard did you set? Edit: Both of those apps are available at their respective websites - jsut visit them from within the browser on your Vega. Sorry, I'm using the r8 MoDaCo rom. I have set the UK language and timezone, but I thought maybe if it thought I was in the US that might explain the lack of betting apps as it's illegal there. But I certainly hadn't asked it to do so. But thanks for the pointer to the sites - I'll try that now. Edited February 16, 2011 by Bogside

I use bwin.com via web normally with no problems.
Guest Bogside Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Can't you access via web? I use bwin.com via web normally with no problems. Yeah, I think that'll have to be the way to do it.
Guest Lennyuk Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Yeah, I think that'll have to be the way to do it. what phone do you have with those apps on? Neither show up when I do an android market search on the web, my phone or my vega....... If it really is an android app then you can always email the apk from your phone to the vega (assuming your phone has root)
Guest MonkeyBoy451 Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Unfortunately, to download them from the sites you have to put in a mobile phone number, so I'm still stuck. Cant you jsut copy the APK from your phone to your vega via bluetooth once you'd downloaded from the websites? This would be my preference in that situation. :D

This would be my preference in that situation. :D Sounds great, but how would I do it? Not sure bluetooth would work for me as its always failed to send files for me in the past. But maybe I could do it by file transfer? For example, phone to SDcard to PC to USB to Vega? Anyway, as someone pointed out, it's probably best just to go straight to the web. I was just worried that there might be bigger issues here.
Guest Mogedwards Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Personally, I wouldn't bother with phone apps. In my view, using the normall site is a much better experience. The apps are designed to squeeze minimum useability onto a tiny screen, but we have a 10" screen. Think of the Vega as a small laptop, not a large phone ;-)
Guest dinneybrowne Posted February 28, 2011 Report Posted February 28, 2011 Google changed their policy regarding gambling apps back in December. Like Apple, they no longer allow real money gambling apps so you won't find any betting applications in the Android Market. Full Tilt had their poker app removed from the android market before christmas. William Hill released an Android sports betting app this week but you need to download it from their website rather than from the Android Market.
Guest worto03 Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 Does anyone know if there are any real money poker apps for android like bwin or paraidse poker etc. etc. The William Hill app above is only for betting on sports etc. cheers, worto.
Guest deniskelly Posted June 29, 2011 Report Posted June 29, 2011 I've been using Rush Poker App on my Google Nexus for the past 6 months and I've loved it. A really great Android poker app. That's why I was so disappointed today when I read that Full Tilt Poker who released the Rush Poker app have lost their gambling license in Europe and have ceased trading. I've been looking all day for a replacement Droid poker app but I haven't found any. Android betting apps currently only lists the Rush Poker app as their only Android app. There are plenty of video poker apps out there and apps like Zynga but they're just not as good as apps where you play against other people.
