Guest fredme Posted February 17, 2011 Report Posted February 17, 2011 I’m sure this must have been discussed before but I can’t find the relevant thread so apologies for the following. I have noticed that since installing Google Maps 5.1.0 my San Fran never sleeps (front buttons are still active). Also Google Maps keeps starting itself and I end up with at least 4 instances of it running as shown by Super Task Killer. If I remove Google Maps then the phone is fine. I’m using Jellyfish RLS9. Any ideas?
Guest Swimmerboy Posted February 17, 2011 Report Posted February 17, 2011 Had this 'problem' with navigation as I was using home to come out of it instead of Menu--> Exit, so it was still running in the background. Never had a problem with Maps though - using home normally has the GPS icon disappear within a second or two
Guest fredme Posted February 17, 2011 Report Posted February 17, 2011 There doesn't seem to be an explicit Exit out of Maps but I am never left with the GPS icon (or any other Maps indicator) showing. However Task Killer shows it running (up to 4 copies) or at least Maps starts itself up after a few seconds! Is it possible to install an older version of Maps? If so, where can I find it? I don't think I had this problem with earlier versions.
Guest That-Guy Posted February 17, 2011 Report Posted February 17, 2011 Are you using Latitude too? I was having a problem with Latitude auto loading constantly.
Guest Phoenix Silver Posted February 17, 2011 Report Posted February 17, 2011 Use task manager kil :D
Guest fredme Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 I'm not using Latitude. Even after Task Manager kill it starts itself up again. I have noticed that after uninstalling Maps my San Fran would not go to sleep. I had to reboot (after uninstalling Maps) to get the phone back to its usual sleep functionality. However, if I then reinstall Maps it is back to playing up.
