app works fine in stock ROM, locks up in any custom one

I've been attempting to solve an issue that's slowly but surely been driving me up the wall as I've been trying to figure it out for some time now. There is an app on the market called Battle.Net Authenticator: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.blizzard.bma which is very nifty and useful for the added security it provides. The thing it, on my Blade it only ever seems to work without problems with the stock 2.1 ROM it's shipped with (Finland, sold by Saunalahti operator). I've tried both JJ RLS9 and the most recent FLB and the following behaviour occurs:

Roughly 3-4 times out of 5 (definately more than half), upon launching the app, it will freeze either immideately with a black screen or as soon as the battle.net logo appears. If I try to do anything, eventually a "Force Close" dialog appears. If I then proceed to kill every task with a task manager and attempt to launch the app again, this sometimes helps and the app will launch and function normally. Sometimes I have to repeat the process of attempting to launch the app, it hanging, me killing all the tasks for 4-5 times in a row until it eventually finally loads up normally. Yet, none of this happens for me with the stock 2.1 ROM and I am also pretty sure that there are a lot of users of this app running it on 2.2 and 2.3 without problems.

What could possibly be the cause of this behaviour and what can I do to solve this?

The app may only work on 2.1 (even if it says otherwise) or lower, why not try a custom 2.1 ROM, such as modaco r4?
