Guest trevor432990 Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 can anyone recommend the best quality films to download to the vega , divx , avi , etc , etc , many thanks nick Hi Nick ... I found several topics about video formats for the Vega including this one which seemed most relevant but if you want to see the others put the word 'video' in the SEARCH field and go to 'more search options' and filter it for that string in the title fields only. :D
Guest Dav0 Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 (edited) I have been using DVDfab to convert DVD using Ipad settings, works very well on Vega, see link. Not tried 1080p option but not planning on playing these on a large TV. http://www.dvdfab.com/tutorial/Convert-DVD-to-iPad The ripper option has a free trial for a month and costs £25 after that expires if you want to buy it It is an idiot proof option with pre-settings for you which makes it very straight forward. As noted other threads, Handbrake is a free option but probably requires more effort working out settings etc Edit: I would note I am using it to convert my own dvd's for use on the tablet, not advocating piracy etc, etc Edited February 18, 2011 by Dav0

Guest stevesilk51 Posted February 19, 2011 Report Posted February 19, 2011 Hi All, Had trouble with "Handbrake" but DVDfab worked brilliantly. Quite fast, and I copied the video files onto a USB stick with the intention of then transferring to the SD card in the Vega. But I thought I would try them from the USB in Host mode. Didn't expect it to be great but I was very, very impressed! No jitter, ran smoothly and v.g. quality with both stock video player and mVideoPlayer. Two "problems" however DVDfab costs approx £35 a year subs, (using 30 day trial at present), and the volume is not great from the vega speakers, fine from headphones. Will see if I can up the volume in audio manager but not too concerned as I will use mostly with headphones.
Guest wi-fli Posted February 19, 2011 Report Posted February 19, 2011 I always use DVD Catalyst (see http://www.tools4movies.com/). It's cheap (10 US dollars), and does file conversions, and DVD rips if you're into that sort've thing :D I've been using it for years (for my old Palm pilots, then for various phones). In my experience, once you've paid for it you seem to get updates for life (I certainly went from 2 to 3 to 4 for free). It has presets for tons of devices, or you can mess with the settings, it supports multi core cpus for speed. I really like it and recommend it. BTW, for my Vega I use a modifed Apple TV setting (MP4, H264 HQ, 584x328 res, 128kbps stereo audio, 2400kbs video, 25fps) This seems to work OK on the Vega, and gives very roughly 1GB per hour file size. And the picture qual looks fine on the Vega sized screen. HTH!
