Entering text using keyboard is too slow

Or so my other half tells me - she's a textaholic and she's trying an SF just now instead of her Nokia X6.

It's a tft running the custom bladevillian. Tried every combination of the standard sms app, Handcent, the standard keyboard, Better keyboard (qwerty and numeric mode) and the HTC keyboard.

She finds it frustrating that she always has to wait for the phone to catch up.

Would moving to one of the quicker roms help - either JJ9 or FLB's? Or is the problem with the hardware/digitiser and that's just the way it is?

She's one of these smug folk who can touchtype on a qwerty and does zillions of words a minute :D

Any suggestions?

I would suggest either FLB or JapJelly (The two froyo roms I have tried) using the gingerbread keyboard (Blade package, somewhere on this forum :D)

I have never experienced this while texting with the above roms but I don't think I'm as fast as your better half

I am suffering from something similar but only when typing text into a website, like this forum.

Texting seems to be fine though :D

Swype is seriously smooth in CM7. I've not tried any more traditional keyboards though.

Thanks, might try JJ9 or FLB later tonight - CM7 is still a bit buggy to put it on her phone.

Mine and my gf's San Frans both have the typing lag problem when trying to type text onto internet forums using any of the 2.2 ROMS. Doesn't seem to matter which keyboard we use. The only browsers I've found that don't suffer this lag are the Opera ones. Texting is absolutely fine though. And strangely typing into password boxes on internet forums is also unaffected.

I've found that the 2.1 custom ROMS, such as Finnish Filljonk, don't seem to suffer this problem quite as bad so you might like to try one of those.
