Guest Victor von Zeppelin Posted February 19, 2011 Report Posted February 19, 2011 (edited) As an idea that appeared in my Nightlies topic, I was wondering what people found to be their best ROM in regards to Wifi and Battery life, over a range of hardware.. I spose a poll would be a good idea, but then also posting what they chose, and what their blade is. So, for example: OLED/TFT Country Best Battery ROM Best Wifi ROM
Thanks guys, and lets see if there's any correlation! (Also, If I missed an important ROM, feel free to correct me) I'll get the ball rolling:
TFT UK FLB and MoDaCo Froyo MoDaCo Froyo and CM7 Edited February 19, 2011 by Victor von Zeppelin
Guest targetbsp Posted February 19, 2011 Report Posted February 19, 2011 (edited) OLED UK All of them except CM7 Japanese Jellyfish, FLB, MoDaCo Froyo I've never had any substantial battery difference in stock nor, any Froyo rom I've used: stock, JJ, Flb, Modaco - nor with any settings such as OC or HW UI. CM7 is fine in use but hits the battery hard in standby. stock and CM7 have poor wifi reconnecting for me.. Edited February 20, 2011 by targetbsp

Battery life for me never varies noticeably between (lots of) builds either... I suspect most of the issues folk have is about having shedloads of "odd" apps/misunderstanding power control/not using screen brightness control/using phone as a PSP surrogate/not managing syncing well.... and so on. I can't take CM7 seriously at the moment, it is definitely WIP. But has promise! Edited February 19, 2011 by Len Ash
Guest Jekle Posted February 20, 2011 Report Posted February 20, 2011 Heres mine... OLED UK Japanese Jellyfish, FLB Froyo Japanese Jellyfish, FLB Froyo
Guest targetbsp Posted February 20, 2011 Report Posted February 20, 2011 I have revised my opinions of CM7's battery consumption in light of new evidence. :D
Guest ricer Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 I have revised my opinions of CM7's battery consumption in light of new evidence. How so?
Guest targetbsp Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 How so? What it says now is how my opinion currently stands. Previously I thought the battery life was fine.
Guest leetron1 Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 Main reason I've come back to JJ9 is abominable battery life on CM7..proximity issue seems to be fixed..you can almost count down the battery on CM7 which is a real pity cos just about everything else about it is top spec... hope someone pins down the issue(s) so i can happily migrate back!!
Guest Mr E Mann Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 TFT UK Japanese Jellyfish Japanese Jellyfish I've tried Modaco and FLB previously... loved the FLB rom but could not get as much battery life as I seem to with JJ It could be down to my use of it... with the other two roms I was switching it on a lot to "show it off"... less so now
Guest edge123 Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 Custom build of JJ9... UK OLED version. 5days since unplugged and still 16% battery!!! Battery usage: Cell standby 61% Phone idle 30% Wi-Fi 8% Usage during those 5 days using data from spare parts battery history: GPS+3G --- 15 minutes WiFi on --- 1day 9h 35min Screen On --- 1h 15min Real usage: Some GPS navigation apps+skype only. No incoming or outgoing calls during this time.
Guest KopCity Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 FLB Is best rom by far when it comes to wifi or battery life.. i love the way u can EASILY switch between 3g and wifi on the notification bar! still few tweaks need to be done, but by FAR better than JJ
Guest Morke Posted February 24, 2011 Report Posted February 24, 2011 Hi. I just started with android and got my phone to the FLB version. What I noticed is that the battery statistics do now not show correct data, they seem static at 95% Android System and 5% Camera. What do I have to do to get proper correct values (like in the original rom the phone came with)? Also, are there some apps that track battery life in greater detail? I think i heared of them, but I would be greatful for recommendations. Thanx in Advance!
