Guest Tarrn Posted February 20, 2011 Report Posted February 20, 2011 (edited) Hi, apologies if this is an obvious question, but what are the differences between the custom rom with Sense and the stock rom in the pinned header? Obviously the stock one is the one that comes on the phone apart from being pre-rooted and customisable via the kitchen, but will it function exactly the same as a normal stock rom including being able to receive updates from the service provider? Is the stock rom already Froyo or will it need to be upgraded to Froyo via said updates? Also, I see there's a list of features in the custom rom thread on what that one can do, but does it have any major limitations that the stock rom doesn't? I have a ZTE Blade myself, I'm asking this on behalf of my mum, who wants to get her Desire rooted so she has full control over what programs can be installed on the SD card to save space on the built-in storage. Can the modified stock rom do this, or would that require the custom one? Cheers in advance for any replies. Edited February 20, 2011 by Tarrn

No. She would need a custom rom with a2sd script. You can find a lot of roms that work, feel and look exactly like the rom that comes with the phone but use a2sd or some similar script to conserve internal memory. You can also find a lot of topics about a2sd and similar so search a little and you won't need to as what's a2sd. :D About custom rom: You won't be able to receive OTA updates on a custom rom. Custom roms don't have any limitations (apart from OTA updates).
