Guest cacoe Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 Aside from the rubber band and the wiimote, I have all the stuff required to make that :D
Guest Swimmerboy Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 Wiimotes are Bluetooth enabled, so all you have to do is pair your phone with the remote, download an APK onto your phone as a 'driver' to translate the signals so as to appear to come from an external keyboard, and then map those keys in your favourite SNES or GBA emulator. Ta-da! You now have a portable games system with wireless controller!
Guest 90180360 Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 Game Gripper going Bluetooth, just needs a little funding (video) What a great idea, but why on earth does he want his customers to finance the project?! I thought customers buy products, while investors or banks provide capital / loans... He got something mixed up there...

In all seriousness, I think Kickstarter is a fantastic way of raising cash for projects like this. I don't see him getting much in the way of 'proper' investment right now, and the contributors usually get a pretty good deal if the total is met. If he doesn't get his $30k - nobody pays anything. He's doing very nicely as well - the fund current stands at $10,200 with 7 days to go.

The contributors in kickstarter hardly get anything tbh. $47 for a small bluetooth controller would be seen as an outrageous price if it retailed for that.
Guest 90180360 Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 Let's hope some Chinese manufacturer picks up his idea. Priced in the same region as a bluetooth keyboard, this would make much sense.

You're correct in this case - I only just checked his Kickstarter page. But I've seen it work for others in the past. You've got to make your contribution bands compelling, though.
Guest squidlr Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 Any thoughts on the iControlpad? Not sure if this will fit the blade, but the controls are of a very high standard. 3000 have been produced and it's shipping this week. It's also Bluetooth powered.
Guest 90180360 Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 I think the Wii Wireless Retro Controller is really interesting. Review on Reddit. £19.99 on Amazon.
Guest 90180360 Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 Any thoughts on the iControlpad? $74.99 / £46.70 / 54.99E
Guest 90180360 Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 £19.99 on Amazon. Actually only £16.66 if you ship to Switzerland, thanks to deducted VAT :) (well, plus £4.98 shipping). Anyway, couldn't resist
Guest 90180360 Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 In only slightly related news, the Xperia Play will be priced at £519
Guest squidlr Posted March 10, 2011 Report Posted March 10, 2011 (edited) Further details regarding iControlpad: I think the Blade fits the iControlpad, based on the dimensions of similar cell phones confirmed to fit.
