Guest The Alpha Gamer Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 For the last few days i've been trying to text my friend, but every time it says sending failed, I deleted her from my contact list and readded her, the first text I sent after that worked fine but since then they all say sending failed. But that only happens if I choose to send a text to her. If I manually type in her number every time, it works. I've texted my mum by choosing to send a text to her and it works no problem. I'm using ChompSMS, and I also use their credit system to send texts to someone in Australia(I'm in the UK) and she wasn't getting my messages either so I emailed their support and was told to add a + to the start of the number, I did that and saved her number in my phone with the + and she received my text fine. I have sent several texts since then and she didn't receive any of them, so I contacted ChompSMS's support again and they said that only the text that she received was sent to the number with the + on it. Every other time my phone was deleting the +. Before anyone says it's a problem with ChompSMS, I also tried texting the first person using the stock messaging app and it still failed to send. So I'm thinking, maybe my contact list is messing with my numbers? Can anyone help please?
Guest Azurren Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 (edited) Well actually I have no idea but they are asking you to add a + so.. Lets see  Here is a regular UK mobile number 0798552244 Made up, don't phone it If you want to dial this number from abroad: 0044798552244 Note the code 0044 (UK) and the missing "0" from the start Here is a shortened version (Used on mobiles) instead of the above: +44798552244 The +44 replaces the 0044 If you are using a service (International texting) then you may need to convert your numbers with the correct country code. It maybe what's causing it.. Having the 0044 or any other code in front of your contacts won't effect them at all for regular calling or texting. Edited February 22, 2011 by Azurren

I've got the number right and saved in my phone, but my phone only sends it to the right number once and then every time after that it misses the + off the start of it

Try deleting your contact here: http://www.google.com/contacts Delete it off your phone Manually sync it on your phone (settings > accounts and sync > then sync contacts) Make sure its gone Then re-create the contact @ http://www.google.com/contacts then re-sync Hopefully the + will be saved on your contact

But when I checked the other one on that page, it was their old number. After following your instructions it now shows their current number both there and on my phone. I text them and it sent successfully, got a reply, sent another text to them, and it failed. Edit: I can text them ok if i start a new text, but if i try to reply to one they've sent me, it fails to send. Could it be because I've got their proper number saved and not the short mobile version? Edit: If it sends to the full number, it works fine. If it sends to the mobile version, it fails.
