Guest moxon Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 Hi I have a Zoom X6 router and I am having problems with my phone's WIFI connection. after the phone goes to sleep mode wifi can not reconnect to the router unless I turn the router on and off. I'd like to know What router you use and if You have any problems with it.
Guest cmberry20 Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 Had the same problem with my Netgear DG834G v5. As soon as my phone was out of range of the router or the WiFi got switched off the phone would not connect to the router again. Kept on getting the 'Connecting > Disconnected' messgae. To solve this I had to power on/off my router. Luckily my friend had a spare Netgear DGN1000 & this has worked faultlessly.
Guest m4dm3n Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 Used to have same problem as moxon, tried different fixes and roms but nothing helped so i had to slighty change my network configuration. My main router is Belkin F5D8633-4, second one D-Link dir-615 running dd-wrt firmware. When second one was set as repeater bridge, problem with reconnections after sleep mode existed, since i changed mode to client bridge ( means d-link is no longer working as AP ) - everything is ok. So can recommend Belkin F5D8633-4 ( WPA2-AES encryption ) as possible alternative for those with "sleep mode" problems. regards
Guest The Sorcerer Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 I don't think it's anything to do with the routers. There's a known wifi problem - and a fix on the market. Have a look here https://market.android.com/details?id=com.b...e=search_result and/or use the search function of this forum because I can't find it now, but I do know that there's been a couple of topics about it.

No. Not really. You've misunderstood a few things. If you can manage to reconnect by turning wifi off and then on again, there is an app called - misleadingly IMHO - "BladeWiFiFix", which will just automate the off/on for you. But it actually fixes nothing. BUT IF (as with this poster) you need to reboot the router, then that app ain't going to do anything for you at all. I do wish that I didn't have to post this correction quite so frequently. Edited February 23, 2011 by oh!dougal
Guest Magnets Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 (edited) If you're looking for a cheap wireless AP, check your local Argos. I have this Asus RT-G32 (paid £25 back in October), it's currently down to £13.99 (looks like end-of-line) and works fine with the san fran. It is NOT an adsl modem/router, but can be simply used as a wireless AP. Edited February 23, 2011 by Magnets
Guest Ralph Martin Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 I have a Fritz!box, which works just fine for WiFi (although the Fritz android app for connecting to it for VoIP doesn't work properly). Always reconnects with JJ9.
Guest darren_ Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 I have a Zoom X6 and have exactly the same problem - I need to reboot the router once the first connection is dropped. I did try a 'fix' which gave my phone a static IP - this enabled the phone to connect to it quicker, but I still had the problem of not being able to re-connect without a reboot. Still running 2.1, don't know if any later ROMs fix it.
Guest kram23 Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 In the same boat as cmberry20 here. Phone will go through the connecting/disconnected routine. Oly rebooting the router will bring the phone back online. Sometimes my dads laptop does this as well, sometimes when its been switched on or sometimes when its been sleeping and its woken up. It can see that there is a network there to connect to but it just wont connect. Are the BT home hub things any good? We are thinking of changing to BT broadband and may as well get one of their routers as they are freeish (£5p+p). Mark.
Guest Phoenix Silver Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 (edited) My config is Blade ---- wifi card ---- computer ---- wired card ---- rooter Thé 2 interfaces are bridged Hostapd deamon for thé hot spot Works fine wpa and 54 megbits connexion Edited February 23, 2011 by Phoenix Silver
Guest vermat17 Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 In my experience, putting a 2.2 rom (such as Japanese Jellyfish) fixes the wifi problem. This lets the device work with all routers. As I said, this is just in my experience, with my device and with a friend's.

That included a Zoom x6v, which didn't work. In the end I put my old Linksys, running Tomato, as the AP and it worked properly - so now the Zoom does modem duties and the Linksys access point. Looks like its a common fault in the implementation of 802.11g
Guest Hanks6 Posted February 24, 2011 Report Posted February 24, 2011 (edited) d-link dir-655, running mixed mode N/G. perfect with the SF. Edited February 24, 2011 by Hanks6
Guest ricer Posted February 24, 2011 Report Posted February 24, 2011 That Blade wifi fix is garbage. It power cycles the wifi even if your still connected!
Guest kejly Posted February 24, 2011 Report Posted February 24, 2011 Netgear WGR614 v9 is working without problems with stock 2.1 ROM.
Guest EarL007 Posted February 25, 2011 Report Posted February 25, 2011 (edited) I'm using Blade with Edimax BR-6524n router, stable and fast. Moreover, the Blade can see the network from a distance of 2-3 houses. And I'm using WPA2-PSK encryption too. Edited February 25, 2011 by EarL007
