I've only had my blade for about two weeks now but it already has a couple of scratches on the front. They're fairly minor now but give it a few more months and it could be at the point where it's starting to get unusable from it.

I always leave it faced inward to my leg when it's in my pocket with nothing else in there and I never leave it face down on tables.

Where the heck are these scratches coming from? The touch screen seems to be fairly good glass!

Why would you not use a screen protector? I don't get it.

Get a pouch / phone sock. Better than a screen protector

Keeps the outside of your phone looking great too

This now a bit late for you I guess. But hopefully will prevent it getting worse! For a couple of quid on ebay you can have half a dozen screen protectors that you can replace when they get scratched. And as my first one is now scratched I'm glad I did!

I didn't use a protector because the original iPhone I had lasted 4 years without a single scratch and this screen seemed as solid. I was obviously wrong but I'll get some protectors now.

Do they effect the touch ability of the phone at all? If so, I think I'll get a sock instead.

Well the OSF screen isn't glass, so that's your first mistake.

iPhone has gorilla glass.

I would imagine that the iPhone, with it's vastly higher materials budget, could afford a better quality coated glass to avoid scratches.

Protectors, on the other hand, are a great solution. I put one on last week - doesn't seem to have affected the touch-ableness of the phone at all. These are the most recommended around here.

I've seen iPhones with more scratches than I had on my old resistive touch screen (LG Cookie)

I had my iPhone 2g for 3.5 years or something like that, not one mark on the glass screen. Never cased, always in my jeans pocket by itself.

Thanks for that, I've ordered a 6 pack of these screen protectors.

Does anybody know where I could find a phone sock that the blade will fit nice and snuggly into??

Thanks!!!

Don't you get a brand new phone for 100 quid? =)

I never seen a scratched iphone display, but I've seen my fair share of CRACKED iphone displays...

I think the question isn't "How can I stop these scratches?" so much as "Why are these scratches even happening?"

I don't use a screen protector or a sock or anything, and my blade is unscratched. It sounds like your screen material might have a defect. If so, there isn't much you can do about it

screen protectors ftw.

I put one on my gf's OSF, before i gave it to her at Xmas. the screen protector is now a fine haze of scratches - silly girl really doesn't take care of her toys

My wildfire's screen (I got for my birthday in October) is still pristine tho... tale of two owners i think. Have to see how my new desire HD lasts lol.

Same here, even though I never used a screen protecter.

Dropped it once, so bought a case just in case, but never had any scratches before.

BTW, what exactly is the screen on the OSF made of??

I got a small scratch on mine when my Orange freebie sock went walkies one morning and I put the phone in my pocket (forgeting about the change in there). I actually prefer my Nokia E71 case and the USB port sits just right.

I think I should put the orange sock on eBay but I'm not sure it's worth a lot.

One word. Keys.

I have destroyed many a phones screen with keys. They kill my phones if I don't out a screen protector on. However I do try and keep them separate.

Another one is coins. they have scratched my screens before.

Are you trying to reference the blade cases by saying 'the usb port sits just right'?

If you are, I don't know what you mean by this; they sit perfectly on the blade cases too they are just slightly too thick to allow the cable to stay docked with the phone.

I agree that any other object in your pocket is asking for trouble, but the guy said there is nothing but his phone in his pockets.

I'm afraid, OP, I don't know what is causing them, except perhaps some tiny grit you may not have noticed or something. I have carried mine in my jacket pocket for the past month and no scratches yet. Have just acquired a screen protector for it to apply today, though.

I've got a Bench phone sock Look Here.

SF fits nicely, and the sock is well padded so may give some protection if dropped.

I was convinced the screen is glass on my San Fran. I never used a screen protector and haven't ever scratched it. Dropped it tons though the case is full of small dings.
