Guest lixcab Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 Hi everyone, I just want to start a poll and find out if you guys still think it's a good idea to buy a Dell Streak. I must say it's an impressive device with a great screen size - good balance between portability and watching casual videos comfortably. I'm just thinking that there are a lot of new portable gadgets coming out with dual-cores (and not to mention the predictable release cycle of the iPhone - June) that might make me regret buying the Streak. Also, if you have any good (or bad) feedback of what it's been like for you after owning the Streak a while please feel free to post them too. Thanks for voting!
Guest JaxWeather Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 I love my Streak. I call it "The Beast" :) I used the QDL tool to upgrade to the stock Froyo 2.2 version and it is simply amazing (It is a shame that AT&T keeps mucking around with pushing Froyo out to everyone) With all the new announcements and releases that have been in the news lately I saw nothing that I have seen that compares, the majority of tablets are too large to carry easily day in and out and I love having one piece of equipment that is both a phone and a small tablet. The best of BOTH Worlds IMHO  -Bob
Guest Mr Dan Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 Go and get a streak - iphone doesnt even come close

Guest popetodd Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 (edited) I voted for this model, but if you are patient you could pick up a cheapo free with a plan phone and wait until next year for the dual core. I wouldn't, but then I bought my Streak the same day it was released. That said this is one awesome machine if you are willing to put up with it's minimal quirks as outlined in the numerous threads around here. If on the other hand you are the type who can't stand occasional glitches and has palpitations at the thought of possibly having your phone lock up once a month then you are probably going to be one of the tiny handful around here that whines about their poor choice when they bought this and that spend their time talking about how great the competition is until we tell them to STFU enough times that they finally get the hint. Also if you are a rabid Apple fan boi you won't like this, it has too many options, requires too much configuration and demands that you treat it like a computing device (because that is what it is, with a phone attached) and will again end up like the few we had here earlier until we told them to STFU as well. Up to you, but I like mine more than any other phone I've ever owned including the iPhone. BTW - I sold my iPhone after 2 weeks of use, I thought it sucked that bad. Guest jmhalder Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 eh, I bought my Streak the day it became available in the US, its been an awesome time. Its plenty fast, even on the stock 318 2.2 build, however, the touch screen digitizer is absolute garbage, literally the WORST capacitive digitizer I've ever used. I'm also on my 2nd Streak in ~6 months, the LCD broke on mine, NOT the gorilla glass, I've never had a phone break this fast... Although I don't regret my purchase, I'm thinking about buying a Atrix to replace it. I wouldn't recommend the Streak anymore, I'd recommend the Atrix, sure you can't beat the size, but there's so much that sucks about this phone. (see above)
Guest Gopu Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 You shouldnt expect to get a very genuine answer here... this is a dell streak forum I brought streak when it was first released. It is a great device and imo its the best out there However recently there have been a flury of other devices that are better. But the downside is that none of them have 5inch screen. Just one more suggestion. It might be better to get an HTC device just becoz they support developers more.
Guest pjg_pigeon Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 I don't own a laptop or a phone. Had my streak since June last year, its the best thing since 'sliced bread' but mainly due to the likes of dj steve and others. Dell are useless, so long as you have the inclination and desire to spend time lovingly updating and tweaking, I don't think you will regret it, providing as said in earlier reply you can put up with a few little 'undocumented features'.
Guest DeathOfAllThings Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 I love my streak, buuut... if I was looking to by a new phone today, I would be waiting for the xperia play.
Guest lixcab Posted February 24, 2011 Report Posted February 24, 2011 Thanks for voting and leaving an honest feedback. I've decided not to go ahead with the purchase and just hold on to my cheapo zte blade for now. Here are the poll results anyway for those who don't want to vote and just want to see the results: Yes, this phone is Amazing! [ 22 ] ** [68.75%] No, too late and too old now best wait for newer devices (dual core?) [ 8 ] ** [25.00%] iPhone 5, FTW! [ 2 ] ** [6.25%]
