Guest willla Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 (edited) Hi all, I've got no screen auto-rotation at all on ANY 2.2 rom. The switch is there in display settings, but it doesn't change anything. Is this a known issue? Edited February 24, 2011 by willla
Guest wolverine73 Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 have you installed an app which would override the system settings? perhaps on a widget......... There is an excellent app available - Smart Rotator - which lets you customize your rotation needs fully.

Guest cmberry20 Posted February 24, 2011 Report Posted February 24, 2011 download aTilt 3D labyrinth game & see if it works. Its ok then the tilt/rotate sensor is fine & its a problem with the phone ROM settings or some rogue app.
Guest willla Posted February 24, 2011 Report Posted February 24, 2011 Just did a full restore back to original 2.1 orange. Sensor works fine there. Flashed back to FLB 9b and its gone again. ???
Guest Borderland Posted February 26, 2011 Report Posted February 26, 2011 I had a Blade that was replaced because the auto-rotate was intermittent right out of the box, but your scenario is odd.
Guest willla Posted February 27, 2011 Report Posted February 27, 2011 I can't believe I have the only phone that this is happening to ! I've gone back and forth from 2.1 to 2.2 trying everything - in CW clearing/formatting everything, still the same. Really don't get it !!!! Just can't get the screen to rotate in a 2.2 rom.
Guest jurrasstoil Posted February 27, 2011 Report Posted February 27, 2011 Did you restore your original 2.1 rom or did you flash a custom 2.1 rom?
Guest willla Posted February 27, 2011 Report Posted February 27, 2011 Did you restore your original 2.1 rom or did you flash a custom 2.1 rom? Restored my original. Why ?
Guest jurrasstoil Posted February 27, 2011 Report Posted February 27, 2011 well, try one of the custom 2.1 roms and see if you have the same problem. Might be a bit far fetched, but it is possible that you got a blade from a batch that has a different sensor.
Guest willla Posted February 27, 2011 Report Posted February 27, 2011 But the crazy thing is - it used to work on the 2.2 roms without any issue. Just stopped recently, but only on 2.2.

I've noticed that on my SF the auto rotate only works if you hold the phone at zero degrees, or turn it 90 degrees anticlockwise. Is this normal behaviour for a SF? And if so, is the limitation caused by hardware or software?

Starting with my phone in portrait the phone will rotate to landscape mode when it reaches about 35 degrees from the original plane i.e when it has been turned 55 degrees. So im going to say thats not normal. Also depending on what app your trying to rotate with, clockwise rotations should also work. Try the gallery app - both rotations work equally well there.

Just tried the gallery app and got the same behaviour. If I start the phone in portrait orientation and then rotate it 90 degrees clockwise so it's in landscape orientation with the three hardware buttons on the left, the picture stays in portrait mode. In landscape mode I prefer the buttons to be on the left because I'm left-handed. Damn, I was already considering returning the phone because of wi-fi issues, and now this. Incidentally, are you using the stock ROM?
Guest willla Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 Today I've installed 'Swedish Snow' rom, it's a 2.1 rom. Again everything is fine. Then I tried FBL R10b, a 2.2 rom .....no rotate in anything. This is brassing me off now - big time.
Guest willla Posted March 18, 2011 Report Posted March 18, 2011 BUMP. Still trying from time to time. Still nothing in 2.2.
Guest Fou-lu Posted March 18, 2011 Report Posted March 18, 2011 on FLB 9b can't rotate in any video player app stuck in landscape, no idea why..
