I tried 800mhz or something and had accidently 'set on boo' on and now I can't boot it crashes in few seconds so I don't have enough time to change it. help

using cm7 latest nightly if that matters

I did the same, I think those sliders in setcpu are badly designed, as soon as you let go it overclocks it. if set on boot is ticked & you overclock it too much then you're in trouble. I fixed it by letting the phone cool down totally, taking the back off & taking it outside (on a cold night) so i could get it to boot for long enough to quickly change it.

Another, easier & safer way to fix it would be to boot into recovery (vol - & power on) wipe & reflash it from a backup, or a rom zip, it wont be overclocked in recovery mode so that will work fine.

It should have more warnings & an 'are you sure you want to' confirmation before it overclocks, or at least untick set on boot when you change it, for idiots like us, but it doesn't.

I did this too! So you're not alone. Im on CM7 NB4 too. I have since avoided that Set On Boot button like the plague! I just did a restore using Nandroid. Worth keeping a back up, which can be easy to forget. Especially when sorting out a new ROM like CM7, getting comfortable and setting things up, then getting a bit frisky and curious, then before you know it, you've done what we did and are pulling our hair out. Lol. Steep learning curve sometimes.

exactly, keep backups & stay well away from the 'set on boot' option for overclocking until you're sure it runs stable at that speed.

Restore via Nandriod, or connect it to a PC and remove the SetCpu apk from /data/app and reboot. When it starts up it won't be able to overclock as the app isn't there.

If using SetCPU it has a feature where you place a file on the sdcard or in /data/local/ called "setcpu_safemode" and then SetCPU doesn't run any tasks at boot. Then you can lower speeds. Not sure about Cyanogenmod cpu thingy though.
