Ideal music player....

Hi all - I have been searching for my ideal music player but as yet, haven't found it. I know there are many 'what's the best music player app' threads but none of these address my questions.

What I need in a player is listed below that as yet, I can't find having tried Meridian, Mortplayer, uPnP, 2player, Realplayer, Winamp, Skifta, Cubed, Rockplayer, PlugPlayer, etc..etc...etc

All my media is on my NAS box which is supposedly uPnP (not DNLA) compliant and I have a CIFS mount created to the root of my NAS. I can use some of the above apps and at the minute Mortplayer is my choice BUT it doesn't support playlists or lyrics. I have installed 'Lyrics App' but it doesn't work with all players and the ones it does work with, can't see the music on my NAS share so a bitch of catch 22. So my ideal player would have the following requirements as a minimum;

  • select source folder through CIFS share (rather than root of NAS share)
  • create / manage playlists (ideally created via WinAmp / other on PC)
  • display lyrics either directly or via Lyrics App
  • retains index of media so it doesn't rescan every time the app is started
  • allows cover art download (or use 3rd party app to download)
  • has a decent sized (4x2) widget
  • can make a nice cup of tea (only joking but if it was possible........

I know that I'm being ambitious with my requirements but I can't be the only person who wants to stream music from NAS, create playlists & broadcast lyrics via HDMI to my telly for those impromptu karoke evenings :huh:

As an aside (and a much easier question), I'm considering getting a Belkin Bluetooth Music Adapter to stream my music from Vega to my existing amplifier / iPod dock. Question is, does Vega support A2DP streaming and is there anything I should know about before buying the adapter ?

TIA

Well poweramp does most of what you want but I haven't tried it with a CIFS share but it should work if you set it up right in terms of folder structure on the vega that poweramp can work with. It doesn't automatically download lyrics but if you have them you can attach them using tags and apparently its getting better lyrics support in version 2.0 whenever that appears. It's pretty similar to winamp on the PC as its basically a clone of that player type however its a lot better than the actual winamp android player the only thing it lacks compared to winamp is wifi syncing otherwise it's better in all categories.

It's by far the least buggy and most fully featured of the players, but it is a paid app in comparison to mostly free apps so you expect that.

I've tried poweramp and an older version allows me to select & scan cifs folder but has jittery playback. Latest version from market allows me to mount & scan cifs folder but doesn't find any media. Will try with a different release / version if I can find one.
