Guest Lew247 Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 From another thread and playing around with a new phone I got today (I got 2 phones fastboot worked on one but not the other) I've discovered that fastboot doesn't work on all B10 roms ADB will show the device name but it shows the device offline Not found a way around it The only thing I've managed to do is use Universal Androot to root the phone, and Recovery Manager to install clockwork - install a new 2.2 rom ADB now works as does Android commander BUT Fastboot still does not work When you hold the vol + button in and press the power on it just boots normallyl, there is no way to enable fastboot Anyone got any ideas how to get into it? (ideally i want to change the splash image but it's not essential)
Guest wbaw Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 (edited) Will a TPT rom install work? Are you willing to risk it? I'd guess a full TPT install with all the hungarian mbn files stands a good chance of enabling fastboot mode, if TPTs aren't also disabled in these new phones, but theres also a chance of bricking it. Are both new phones b10, or is the one where fastboot works b08? Edited February 23, 2011 by wbaw
Guest Lew247 Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 I got the new rom installed and I guess TPT might work )not looked into how that gets flashed yet) But its a fastboot command I want to do - I want to change the splash screen which needs it, unless someone knows another way to do it
Guest wbaw Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 (edited) with a tpt install it flashes everything on the phone, including the bootloader, the radio firmware, all the hidden stuff. so if you flash the original hungarian tpt then your phone should match a hungarian t-mobile stock blade exactly. fastboot should work after that. problem is, it's also installed by pressing volume up when you power on, after adding the files to the /image folder of your sdcard, so it might be disabled too. another problem is that if the hardware has changed in some significant way, then it could brick it, but that hasn't happened to anybody yet, as far as i know (except for one guy that interrupted the flash). you should also be able to flash the splash logo using adb or a terminal command line. Guest wbaw Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 Ok, I've just thought of something stupid. You're on flb-froyo, right? Use the reboot app to reboot into bootloader mode & fastboot will work.
Guest Lew247 Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 How stupid am I? It should have been obvious! Thanks
Guest wbaw Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 adb reboot bootloader that should also work.
Guest gromit83 Posted April 2, 2011 Report Posted April 2, 2011 This sucks. I'm fixing a brand new ZTE Blade for a colleague of mine. Her kids installed Lost Phone on the Blade and triggered it. My plan was to install fastboot via the bootloader with Clockwork recovery and wipe the userdata and apps. (The Lost Phone app renders the phone totally useless. So installing anything from market is a no go.) Looks like they have to send it in to get serviced and reflashed.
Guest Mushroom_Lord Posted April 2, 2011 Report Posted April 2, 2011 Wbaw beat me to it. The app is in the sig for anyone else. And you no longer need fastboot to flash splashes. Thanks to wbaw...
Guest Bonbergol Posted April 2, 2011 Report Posted April 2, 2011 (edited) Maybe iam on the wrong path but isn´t it possible to root with universial androt and then install clockwork with Rom Manager? Edited April 2, 2011 by Bonbergol

Guest DanB12 Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 Hi all, my first post so be kind. I too have this problem but I see you have a work around and I’d like to try it on my phone. The other problem I have is that this is my first time doing anything like this so a step by step guide (in plain English please!) is needed. If there are any patient souls out there, PLEASE HELP!! If your advice is "a plonker like me should leave well alone" then I understand. However, we all have to start at the beginning if we want to make the journey. Phone: Orange San Francisco Firmware: 2.1-update1 Build: B10 Many thanks.

Guest TheBrainKafka Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 anyone tried „Power“ and „Vol +“ and MENU to get into fastboot ?
Guest sambartle Posted April 6, 2011 Report Posted April 6, 2011 Doesn't make any difference for me. (Just tried it as I wasnt aware it may work)
Guest Jb17 Posted April 6, 2011 Report Posted April 6, 2011 Apologies for digging this thread up again but I'm also having problems getting into Fastboot to flash the partition mod from here, this is on a B10 OSF running SS4b. I wasn't sure where to put this post but I think it's more relevant to this thread as the partition mod has worked from what I can tell. I applied the mod and I have the image folder on my SD card with the 00-PART-2-xxx-xxx.txt file but I can't for the life of me get into fastboot mode to flash the new partitions. Last night I tried the adb reboot bootloader method but I was stuck at the green android man and after 20 mins I took the battery out. My USB cable was still connected so maybe that screwed it up .... I'm not sure how to do this method while removing the USB cable before it reboots. I tried installing the reboot app linked in Mushroom_Lord's signature but that wouldn't install on SS4b. I then noticed that in the Extra Settings app in SS4b there is an option to Reboot to Bootloader/Fastboot mode option, so I tried this morning and again I was stuck at the green android man for 20 mins. As far as I can tell, maybe I'm being a bit of a noob, but I need to get into Fastboot mode to automatically flash the contents of the /image folder on my SD card ... is this correct? I'm also guessing that the Fastboot mode is automatic and I don't have to 'do' anything to start flashing once the phone has entered this mode. I'm running out of ideas for how to achieve this and finish applying the mod. Thanks for you help, Jimbob PS. Maybe I'm wasting my time as I seem to move most of my apps on to the SD card but recovering free memory space sounds good to me :D
Guest Phoenix Silver Posted April 6, 2011 Report Posted April 6, 2011 download quick boot (free) in market :D
Guest Jb17 Posted April 6, 2011 Report Posted April 6, 2011 download quick boot (free) in market :D Thanks ... I'll give this a try in the next day or so B)
Guest wbaw Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 anyone tried „Power“ and „Vol +“ and MENU to get into fastboot ? Tried that & it didn't work. Need to press menu & vol+ & power on for a TPT install on the new phones though, just vol+ & power on didn't work. A TPT will fix it so that fastboot works with vol+ & power on.
