Guest gitf@ce Posted February 24, 2011 Report Posted February 24, 2011 One of the things I wanted my Vega for was playing videos, but thus far I have had no luck! Most of my vids are avi (xvid) with ac3, I have tried numerous conversions to mp3 which will play but I cannot skip backward or forward or last position played. I have used Handbrake, Vdub, DVD Catalyst 4 and Format Factory. I have tried Xvid, Divx and MP4, the latter of which causes FC. Also all the popular Android players have been tested. As no one else has kicked up about this I am beginning to suspect hardware issues, maybe with the graphics chip. Could you tell me what works for you? Has anyone else had issues playing vids? Hope you can help... Vince.

Not sure why, but it worked. Otherwise played plenty of vids without any issue.
Guest warriorscot Posted February 24, 2011 Report Posted February 24, 2011 If it has close source dolby audio(ac3,dts) its a no go sound wise but I don't know what is causing your other problems probably a bad encode job. If you think there is a problem with the software you could always take it to stock and try it again if it still doesn't work its probably the videos rather than the vega. Where are you taking your conversion settings there is a list of acceptable formats for the vega just look it up and convert to something that works. xvid and mp3 is what either my videos are in or what converting to works however as long as it's on the compatible list it will work. And you say you have tested all the popular players, what about the stock its the only one that is going to be hardware accelerated and tegra compatible. Rockplayer is the only other one that approaches it performance wise.
Guest Amathusukx Posted March 5, 2011 Report Posted March 5, 2011 (edited) Its not a Hardware issue all my files play sweet. I always use Divx encoded files in both avi and MP4 format. Mp4 are slightly laggy but play otherwise o.k. Side note i use Xilisoft video converter to convert my files. Stock video player used for playback Edited March 5, 2011 by Amathusukx

I have left this for a while but want to have another go before I give up and send my Vega back. Would you kindly tell me what conversion settings you are using with Xilisoft? Confirm that you are able to drag the popup movie position slider (seek) backward and forward while watching a movie, with no issues? Thanks...

Have you tried contacting manufactures to ask what the recommended video settings should be ? I know with my mini Sony MP4 there is a fixed screen size and bite rate etc... any video not to required spec. will not work. Does the video play correctly when connected to a TV ? Which playback software are you using on the Vega ? Have you modified your Vega or is it default (out the box) Edited March 6, 2011 by hellracer13
Guest Amathusukx Posted March 6, 2011 Report Posted March 6, 2011 I'm using Xilisoft Video Converter Version 2.1.57 build 1228b. When converting i'm using profile Divx Movie,* avi*. Dragging the slider whilst watching a movie is really smooth no lag at all. Frame advance instant again no lag ,i'm really impressed.
