Noob question regarding networks and sim

OK, I should know this but I'm having a brain-fart moment

I'm just about to change from Asda PAYG to GiffGaff so that obviously means taking the Asda sim out and replacing it with the GiffGaff sim. I'm not sure if there's anything stored on the existing sim (contacts?) that I need to save and transfer over to the new sim, so (1) how do I find out, and (2) if there is, how do I save whatever it is?

Just in case it makes a difference to any answer that may be given, I should say that I created a Google account so that I could use the Android Market but I don't actually use the account and I don't let the phone sync any account - because I'm on PAYG I didn't want it to "leak" my money doing unnecessary sync operations.

Thanks guys :)

If your on giffgaff you don't need to worry about syncing any accounts, thats the benefit of gifgaff - free data

If you haven't created a google account then I suggest you do it now and then sync your phone, that way all your contacts will be stored on googles servers (only you will have access to them)

and when you insert the new sim card next time it sync's again it will put them back

or when you install a new rom it will put them all back for you

its great once you get used to t - no more trying to copy contacts from one phone to another.

If you have no credit at the moment, simply open your contacts press the menu button, import/export and export to sd card

then once you get the new sim if your contacts are not there still just import from sd card.

That's brilliant, thanks very much
