Guest MarioUK Posted February 24, 2011 Report Posted February 24, 2011 Hi guys, After a few days of having my Vega i noticed a couple of specks of dirt had somehow got itself under the screen (between the digitiser and LCD). I've lived with it for well over a month now, but now its starting to really annoy me! For those who have taken the vega apart, is it easy enough to get to the front of the LCD to clean the inside of the digitiser? I have one of those cans of compressed air so was thinking of using that to blast it clean, but im more worried of introducing more dirt in there or potentially breaking something taking it all apart! Cheers, Mario
Guest trevor432990 Posted February 26, 2011 Report Posted February 26, 2011 I would private message the 'Advent Vega' user to ask if they can help arrange to get your device replaced as it is still under warranty and they have been very helpful in the past in organizing such things.
Guest StantonPark Posted February 26, 2011 Report Posted February 26, 2011 I had a similar issue with a small curly hair caught under the screen. Tried to live with it for about 3 or 4 weeks but every time I used my Vega my eyes were always drawn to the offending ‘Mr Curly’. I always had an urge to rub the area to try to get rid of it and made me feel that the device was somehow unclean as well as being a bit cheap. Anyway, noticed that my local Curry’s just had some stock in so just popped in and they replaced it without any problems (in fact got a refund of 99p although still not sure why). The fact that the screen is now free of the unsightly Mr Curly makes using the device much more pleasurable.

Did you take anything along in the form of a receipt? Like a printed off email or something?

Like a printed off email or something? Just took along a printout of the confirmation email I had (I believe it quoted the order/invoice number). They were able to check on their system and just switched over the Vega – managed to check the new one out for dirt etc and also swapped sd cards over as well. They had just had a delivery of units in that morning (Wednesday just gone) so worked out quite well in the end. I must say that not having the hair/dirt under the screen does make a lot of difference and well worth the small effort it took to get it replaced.
