Guest leinert1 Posted February 25, 2011 Report Posted February 25, 2011 I get an error when processing the update file that lists Status 7 and it fails out the update. I tried the steps listed in this post and it still gave me the same error.

So to go from 318 to 340 I only need to do this and not all the other steps listed to go back to 1.6 then to 340?
Guest cowballz Posted February 26, 2011 Report Posted February 26, 2011 Why would anyone wanna use the official 2.2 is beyond me?? What do u gain by going official?
Guest rnj79 Posted February 26, 2011 Report Posted February 26, 2011 I am also on the 318 release and keep getting the status 7 error. The only way I can get my phone off the logo is to pull the battery and use the QDL tool. It won't boot pass the logo after selecting the update from the sd card so I have to revert back to 318 via QDL to have any function from it. I have never had this much frustration updating on this phone. Why can't it work??

Guest blairware Posted March 10, 2011 Report Posted March 10, 2011 I had this process fail on me, ended up stuck at Dell logo, and could NOT get past if for anything. The reason? I made a mistake that I did not catch until later: On this step: then copy recovery-from-boot.p from /sdcard to /system, I copied the "recovery-from-boot.p" file to the root folder of my device, not system. In doing so, I did not have the correct setup when completing the next steps, and the whole process fell apart. I have read of quite a few success stories using this method, and it could save you a LOT of time: The moral of the story: Foloow directions closely. If you do get stuck at Dell Logo, you can get out of it by restoring a rom that matches the recovery thats on your device. In my case it was the previous ROM version prior to this proceedure. Anyone who gets stuck there should consider putting back the previous ROM by renaming the image, put it on SD card, and bring up recovery to restore. Then.... THINK - what did you miss? Hope this helps SOME poor sucker somewhere, sometime...
