Disabling USB charging

I am currently on Flibblesans Froyo ROM and I bought a new USB cable off of the bay, its a great length and lets me keep a cable handy on my desk to quick USB access (i keep the stock one for the wall charger) and this cable is a lot longer than the stock one and doesnt seem to charge my phone properly, it says its charging but the percentage doesnt change.

I remember there being the ability to disable USB charging (for development mode) when running Eclair. Is there anyway I can turn off USB charging? The slow charging concerns me

I was wondering this as well. Sure you could do it in 2.1, but can't find how to turn off it in Froyo(JJ).
