Guest Bradmax57 Posted February 25, 2011 Report Posted February 25, 2011 (edited) Ok ive got my vega non booting by trying Pauls R3 usb host switcher, seemed to install and i had the two options, i selected host and it rebooted as it should have. It just hangs on "Starting Fastboot USB Download protocol" I cant even seem to get it into recovery Ive tried pressing the power button for 6 secs, then pressing the back for 2 secs back + power for 2 secs, back for 2 secs and then release the back button it keeps coming up with starting fastbook usb download protocol on the screen now, i did get it into recovery a couple of times to install the usb drivers now it wont go into recovery, ive got a nice 24hour old paper weight here atm  Any help would be greatly appreciated. Ok Ive got past that bit by unplugged the usb cable putting it into recovery and then connecting usb and installing the nvidia recovery usb drivers then installing the 1.09 firmware again, the problem ive got when trying to install Pauls R8 is using his usb drivers, i point to have disc in update drivers where the inf files are extracted to etc but nothing is found? Im on win7 x64 if thats the issue, I managed to install his usb drivers earlier on my wifes 32bit win7 laptop but shes now not letting me use it lol
Guest Solidare Posted February 25, 2011 Report Posted February 25, 2011 (edited) This can be a bit tedious. I've spent hours messing with my Vega since i got it on Tuesday. Don't think Paul's R8 can be installed over 1.09. Check out Dan's Mod instead until Paul cooks us up somthing else nice. http://android.modaco.com/content/advent-v...latest-busybox/ The best way to get adb installed for me was - Make sure your Vega has USB debugging enabled (can be found in settings/applications) - Plug your USB cable in - Use USBDeview to uninstall all the Nvidia drivers - On your PC Go to Device Manager / Action / Add Legacy Hardware - Click Next > Install Manually > Do not sellect anything from the list, just click next - Have Disk - Browse to Modaco Driver and select the .inf file - Choose Android ADB Interface from the list - Unplug USB cable then connect it again As far as i remember that should get ADB working for you to then run the update scripts. May be worth making sure you've got the latest Adb / Android SDK aswell if you havn't already. note: Im also using Win 7 X64 Hope this helps Edited February 26, 2011 by Solidare

Guest clive_j Posted February 27, 2011 Report Posted February 27, 2011 I was beginning to get frustrated as I couldn't work out how to uninstall NVIDA Tegra USB driver and replace with Paul's. Thanks to Solidare for the USBDeview tip - I think I'd used that a couple of years back but forgot all about it. I have 1.09 and R8 went on like a dream after that! Should this be "sticky"?? cmj This can be a bit tedious. I've spent hours messing with my Vega since i got it on Tuesday. Don't think Paul's R8 can be installed over 1.09.
