Guest newbe5 Posted February 26, 2011 Report Posted February 26, 2011 So in Settings > Applications > Development: USB Debugging is definitely turned on?
Guest henky92 Posted February 26, 2011 Report Posted February 26, 2011 So in Settings > Applications > Development: USB Debugging is definitely turned on? 100 % sure, tried it on a windows machine, but exactly the same!
Guest newbe5 Posted February 26, 2011 Report Posted February 26, 2011 For whateve reason, your device is not being detected by the PC. With Windows I would suggest a driver issue, but that won't happen in Linux. Can you use the POV as a mass storage device to prove that the USB cable is definately working? Or try a different USB port?

Guest newbe5 Posted February 26, 2011 Report Posted February 26, 2011 (edited) Oh it's stuck in USB Host mode hu? OK well you won't be able to do this with ADB then. So you have a couple of options: 1) Set up ADB wireless (search these forums and you will find how to do this) 2) Install the Vega 1.09 Stock ROM from www.myadventvega.co.uk (I'm pretty sure this shold work with your device, and it comes with Slave turned on by default) 3) Search these forums for Higgsys modded 1.08 ROM. It comes with an easy-installer that you can use from the Recovery bootloader like a stock ROM, and has most of the MCR stuff installed, then from there you can install ClockworkMOD and do the rest yourself  Zeb EDIT: Since you have USB Host mode, you could also copy the Android Terminal Emulator directly to the device using a USB stick, install that, then transfer the clockworkmod install files over USB-stick and install them manually on the POV by using shell commands through the emulator if you know how to do that? Guest newbe5 Posted February 26, 2011 Report Posted February 26, 2011 thats a great idea! but dont i need root for that? Once you have the terminal emulator installed you can manually install superuser if you know how, the other options you should be able to do without it, if the pov is the same as the gets which I think it is, it should Already be rooted enough for them to work.

Guest tmirage Posted February 26, 2011 Report Posted February 26, 2011 (edited) Install the Vega firmware and then do the adb commands you want to do. That should be all the pov firmware is in the wrong usb mode standard for adb Edited February 26, 2011 by tmirage
Guest henky92 Posted February 26, 2011 Report Posted February 26, 2011 Install the Vega firmware and then do the adb commands you want to do. That should be all the pov firmware is in the wrong usb mode standard for adb so i can simply install the vega software on the point of view?
Guest henky92 Posted February 26, 2011 Report Posted February 26, 2011 so i can simply install the vega software on the point of view? got it, but how do I install the required USB driver? it's all dll files etc thanks for the help so far btw guys!
Guest trevor432990 Posted February 26, 2011 Report Posted February 26, 2011 Follow these instructions to the letter and you should be alright First, using Windows Explorer you need to go to the folder on your PC where you unzipped the files from Pauls download pack. In that folder will be a folder called 'usbdriver' and within that, one called 'usb_driver' and it is in this sub-folder where all the drivers you need are held. If when you run the 'install-windows.bat' command as instructed nothing happens or you only get say a couple of lines of text displayed then you will need to do the following:- Go to CONTROL PANEL>SYSTEM>HARDWARE>DEVICE MANAGER and if you have the Vega connected by USB (with power on) you should see some new hardware called ANDROID PHONE and/or NVIDIA HARMONY. Right click on each entry and click 'Uninstall' then go to the top of the list where it displays your computers name and right click on the entry and select 'Scan for hardware changes'. The Windows new hardware wizard will then pop-up asking if you have a driver disk or not. Say you have and browse to the folder called 'usb_driver' described above and select it. The hardware should then be installed with the correct drivers. Repeat the 'install-windows.bat' command and hopefully this time a whole list of program output should appear showing it is working and in less than a minute it should all be done and your Vega will reboot itself. Then on Vega go into SETTINGS>ABOUT DEVICE and the Kernel Version should include the text for the level you are now at. Note:- You may need to do the above with every new release as it seems to be the only way of updating the drivers properly unless someone else can tell us a better way
Guest henky92 Posted February 26, 2011 Report Posted February 26, 2011 the command option didn't work, it tells me i dont have correct permissions: permission denied (to move files) the tablet doesn't show up in devices! did I get a messed up tablet or something?
Guest henky92 Posted February 26, 2011 Report Posted February 26, 2011 (edited) okay this is weird, I reset the tablet and now when i connect it the notification bar shows debugging connected and mass storage, but in terminal it still tells me waiting for device.! later it sais: insufficient permission for device /Desktop/sdfg$ '/home/henky/Desktop/sdfg/adb-linux' devices List of devices attached ???????????? no permissions got it working! did kill server / root / install.sh Edited February 26, 2011 by henky92

OK sorry I should have noticed you said you were using Linux so it would have been run 'install-linux.sh' rather than 'install-windows.bat' but do I gather from your last post you are now up and running correctly ??
Guest ParanoidSPV Posted February 26, 2011 Report Posted February 26, 2011 Remember the point of view is in host mode and not in slave so usb debugging dont work there as it is not ment to connect to a computer... so you will need to ether install the vega software on a windows or get the it rooted and get the usb mode switcher installed there is here on the forum.
