Guest ellhead Posted February 26, 2011 Report Posted February 26, 2011 Since I was playing with a lecturers new TFT sanfran the other day, i've been pondering about what would happen if my OLED one dies on me. If My OLED one dies and it gets replaced by orange with a TFT variant could I argue that the one they give me is an Inferior model with the hope to get ether a full refund, credit or another OLED one? I really don't like the idea of getting one with a TFT screen since the screen quality is what attracted me to the SF in the first place. for me it feels like a rather large step backwards. On another note: Has anyone noticed that the newer TFT phones are about 1mm thicker than the older ones? and also a little bit heavier but i presume that is due to the screen.

The TFT screen has a higher screen quality in terms of sharpness. I.e Text is more readable but the OLED is superior in colour production and brightness. I think it's a bit unfair to say that the TFT is inferior.. did you really not like it that much? Either way orange probably wont give you a refund, you might have more luck in a court of law - but that's a wallnut with a sledgehammer

I guess its up to personal preference which screen you prefer. text did look sharper but the colours looked very washed out and i didn't like the blueish tint to the whites. I think the oled's look smoother as well. luck of the draw i guess.

Guest aardys Posted February 27, 2011 Report Posted February 27, 2011 (edited) i have amoled and tft , well not a big enough diffrence to matter in real world terms , i would happily swap my htc desire on contract for a tft san fran if i could get outa the contract , and i had em side by side remember , everyday in fact , hahah i think its a case of the oled owners trying to annoy you thats all ,so dont get sucked in .
