Hi,

I've bought my wife an orange san francisco but were having a problem with reception. We can't get any!

I've tried the latest japanesse jellyfish and cayanogen rom's and both are the same. When I do a search for networks I occasionally get "Vodafone United Kingdom" or "telafoncia o2 UK" When I try it on my phone I get loads "Vodafone UK", "02 - UK", "orange UK", "3 UK" etc.

Is there anyreason why vodafone and O2 are given different names on the SF.

Could this be an issue with the phone. I'm hoping to use a three sim in this phone, and have tried manually putting the access point name in but still no good. I wish I'd tested it on the stock rom to rule out the rom causing the issue.

thanks in advance

Darren

That is most probably due to the ROM, I know Jellyfish has had bugs displaying mobile phone networks wrong or with different names. (nothing to worry about, just an aesthetic issue).

As for the fact you aren't getting any other network providers.. Is your other phone you tested it on also a San Francisco?

Hi thanks for the fast resonce.

The phones I'm testing it with are an Acer Liquid running Froyo (stock rom) and Samsung Spica runing cyanagen (froyo).

Thanks,

Darren

I may be wrong, in which case someone correct me, but I recall one of the bugs with JJ being that multiple mobile phone networks that weren't o2 were being displayed as "o2 telifonica UK". If this is the case, when you do the manual search for networks and that one pops up, it may be the one you want? If that makes sense...

Have you tried putting network selection on to automatic and seeing if it connects to one? (probably o2 telifonica uk if any..)

If that doesnt work I'm afraid I can't help, however these are cheap devices and it could be one of the few manufacturer defects, might be worth getting a replacement?
