Search the forum to find the USB switcher app written so that it allows you to do this and switch back again. MOST problem fixes can be found on here that way. WTH: Here is the link for USB switch: http://android.modaco.com/content/advent-v...de-to-usb-host/ Please search for other porblems as they arise, it saves reposting solved problems! Thanks
Guest stevesilk51 Posted February 26, 2011 Report Posted February 26, 2011 (edited) Hi again swacd, Just thought, if this is scary for you, why not buy the Vega docking station? USB ports and HDMI Edited February 26, 2011 by stevesilk51
Guest swacd Posted February 26, 2011 Report Posted February 26, 2011 thanks for the reply if i cock up ......how do i restore back to as it was is this easy to do..............
Guest warriorscot Posted February 26, 2011 Report Posted February 26, 2011 Just do an update to 1.09 using the full instructions on the vega site it basically puts the vega into recovery mode so it doesn't matter how badly you mess up the operating system you can always take it back to default. It is in effect unbrickable so no worries. If I were you I would just install the r8 rom as it has all the parts you need to get USB host working in a nice easy to set up package. Installing clockwork mod is also something worth doing. If you read through the pinned topics it becomes clearer what you have to do.
Guest 67Mustang Posted February 26, 2011 Report Posted February 26, 2011 thanks for the reply if i cock up ......how do i restore back to as it was is this easy to do.............. I'm sensing a string of posts coming here shortly along the lines of 'please read the manual' and 'please learn to how to use the forum search function' ..... In all seriousness, the answer to most problems is already on the forum, because at least one other person has had the same problem and found a solution. If you either just look through the post titles (e.g. there are several on USB host mode and rebooting) or use the 'Search' function (in the menu at the top right of the screen, fourth in from the right), it avoids people having to post/ link to the same answer repeatedly. People on the forum are generally very helpful when it comes to resolving problems, but will very quickly get tired of repeated posts asking for answers that are easy to find with very little effort. I'd never used an Android device before, but spent several hours reading through posts and (like most people I would imagine) picked it up very quickly. Apologies if that sounds unhelpful, but I'm only saying what a lot of other people are probably thinking. Plus, it's much more fun playing around with your Vega and finding things out for yourself - the great thing is you can't brick it (yet)!
Guest Cant-think-of-one Posted February 27, 2011 Report Posted February 27, 2011 Don't feel too bad swacd, I have r8 installed, have spent hours searching the forum and still can't get it to work. I even ran the code that's in the pinned section in conjunction with the Android app (after yet more Hours of Googling) to no avail. One day it will all make sense (he says, hopefully)

I agree with these sentiments as I often remind people that they need to use the forum tools available to them. On the other hand I also remember how daunting at first it was to find the right information even when doing a search so what I have been suggesting to Paul is that we have more 'pinned topics' or preferably a separate section which contain index posts like the one Percy25 created here which provides a kind of FAQ for members new & old to refer to. Don't mean to hijack this topic but would be interested in peoples opinion about this? Edited February 27, 2011 by trevor432990

Also people won't have to keep repeating things again and again either. Edited February 27, 2011 by HunteronX
Guest warriorscot Posted February 27, 2011 Report Posted February 27, 2011 If you can get to the command prompt bit then you have finished the tricky bit(drivers) its just a case of typing what you are told to type and hitting enter at the right bits a trained monkey could so it which considering we are all educated primates is pretty much what we are.

Guest simonta Posted February 27, 2011 Report Posted February 27, 2011 Please read, and follow closely. It doesn't say update the drivers anywhere! Uninstall the drivers, also select "delete drivers" then add them manually by right clicking My Computer in device manager.
