Guest thedicemaster Posted February 27, 2011 Report Posted February 27, 2011 it would now be nice if someone could make us an overclock-enabled kernel.

It looks like the Tegra 2 cpu can be overclocked to 1.5GHz per core. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread...23#post11696323 This should help. Edited February 27, 2011 by HunteronX
Guest warriorscot Posted February 27, 2011 Report Posted February 27, 2011 It can go pretty high the next chips based on Tegra 2 go up to 1.4Ghz but they aren't released yet probably because nvidia needs to work out how to get them cooler. Don't know about anyone else but my Vega gets HOT under full load.

In fact, the battery temp was only about 31 degrees (off charge) when I last checked SetCPU. EDIT: But that is only the battery temp, though. Edited February 27, 2011 by HunteronX

Usually the "official" frequencies are a compromise between performance and power-consumption and performance. The highest frequencies usually need a lot more power compared to the additional performance they can give. The key for mobile devices is to give them just enough performance and not more, because everyone will notice the lower battery-life, but in "normal" use you will hardly notice any additional performance. The clocks in SoCs are not limited by temperature, not even close, the chips can easily run at 100-120°C without a problem.
